jenkins95
Hi Echo I listened to Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon yesterday. I wasn't intending it to be "therapy", but it completely captivated me and I basically cried all the way through! Afterwards, it felt like I'd been in a tough, but ultimately rewarding therapy session. This comes with a warning - I do not recommend this one if you want something light to cheer you up because it is very dark, but if you want something to relate to and help your reflective processes along, then this album is amazing. Songs I particularly related to were "Brain Damage" (about a man's paranoid descent into madness - not very cheerful, but I can definitely relate to the post-A mindset), "Eclipse" (about how good things are out there but can be beyond our grasp due to "dark" influences), "Time" (about how quickly time can get past us and how easily we can go down the wrong pathway with no one to "tell us the way"), "Them and Us" (my interpretation is that it is a comment on how we should all pull together as humans but inevitably end up fighting against each other and doing each other harm). I think the one that had me in tears the most was "Great Gig in the Sky" - it has no words, but a woman scream-singing. It's absolutely amazing. It is extremely clever because you find yourself imposing your own personal meaning on her screams, so that it becomes a very personal song. The opening track "Breathe" is amazing too - very, very emotive and a beautiful build up - full of angst and vulnerability. In short it's absolutely amazing from beginning to end - every track. An absolute classic, brilliant and very easy to escape into. I repeat, this is not one to cheer you up, but if you want reflection, analysis and meaning that can very easily be related to the post-A mindset, give it a try. Good luck Echo - I will check out your recommendations too. Edited June 23, 2016 by jenkins95

Mayday2016
You need something with hope. You can indulge in the songs that make you weep like 'place to be' by Nick drake off of his pink moon album, it depresses the **** out of me though. Falling off the face of the earth by Neil young... River of deceit by mad season with the ultra powerful 'my pain is self chosen' referencing a drug addiction but an affair operates on the same reward system. Send her my love, journey.. That was our song - I actually had a sound wave taken from the chorus printed and framed so he could hang it in his office. It was his birthday gift last July. I wonder now if he even kept it, I doubt it. But you need hope. Mission by Rush, learning to fly by Lloyd. You can do empowerment - I will survive by Gloria gaynor or joplin's take another little piece of my heart.
Author Echo1334
Ill be checking out all of your suggestions. I also realized that Cher has a ton of good songs Believe is perhaps the most fitting. Cruxshadows- Quicksilver is great too. I really related to almost all of the lyrics to that song.
