Large age difference does it work long term

Recommended Posts

Generally speaking what is the success for long term relationships when you have more then 10 years between ages. We have about 13 years difference. The relationship has been fantastic since we met about 5 years ago. Only recently do I sense some changes. Maybe the stress of some other things in her life. She has stopped working out at her normally serious level and lost 10 pounds etc. The sex has been great up to 6 months ago. Share your experience would be appreciated.

Have you broken up? Asking because this is in the break up section.

Circumstance changes don't always have something to do with age gap. Are you only attracted to her looks and the sex? Because that's what your questions appear to focus on.

You are right. I click on the wrong section. No have not broke up yet. No the relation is not all based on looks or sex but I was a factor in the beginning for sure. I am the older one so if anyone would be changing based on looks and sex needs it would be her. No we always had good communication, got along great and deep caring for each other.

She experienced some stress and depression over some family matters. One parent getting sick and other sibling squabbles about who will step up etc. She travels a bit now in her new position with work. That's about all I am aware of. She never had kids but didn't seem to want any.

I don't think she is seeing anyone. If she is that would shock me.

To answer the title: Depends on your ages. If you were 20 and 33 I think that would likely be be unsustainable in the long term (in most cases, anyway), but if you were 40 and 53 it might not be so bad.

As for the rest of the post: Talk to her?

We are the 53 to 40 range. I have talked with her. Basically it's what she been going through mentally. I think it's time for a vacation together

Thanks guys

Half your age plus 7 in a common rule of thumb.

Can't wait til I turn 80, can start chasing those 47-yr olds...
