I guess she's realizing the person you were and the person you wanted her to be and she's showing you she hasn't forgotten about you.

It sounds also like she wants to implement a friendship, if you're up to it. The email sounds nice, don't make her feel bad, if you have any anger towards her.

She is putting subtle hints that she is now not with the guy for whom she cheated BA.

No BA, don't throw even speck of kindness for her, a person who cheats in love should be destined to rot in hell, comeon dude you have to think of all of us before you do something.

OH, she cheated, hold on, I take that back. This is hard, good luck man. Once a cheater, Always a cheater, I believe in this whether others disagree or not.

The best thing to do is write her back an email and tell her you don't want contact with her, since she cheated on you. If that's what you want to do.

I agree about cheating.

My ex cheated on me, though at the time we weren't officially a couple. However, she did lie to me and denied she was, vehemently. Grrr.

I really despise liars.

I don't think I'll reply to the email. I don't see a point. Cheating sucks, and maybe she'll learn her lesson.

I think 'taking breaks' to 'see other people' sucks too. In her case, I'm convinced that she honestly thought that she'd be able to get back together with me - hence her hysterical reaction when I didn't. "It's just that it never really hit me till then" = "I never realized that you wouldn't want me back".

Did she forget that you broke up with her? She acts like you guys are just apart for the summer break or something.

Personally, I would do one of two things:

1) Tell her to bug off and not to contact you ever again

2) Tell her you're really happy for her, you wish her good luck but your relationship is over and you'd like it to remain that way.

She's emailing because she wants forgiveness. You can either rip her apart or be extra nice to her to make her feel even worse. I believe in karma, and would probably do 2. But I'd have to let the emotions pass so I didnt do 1 :)

Absolutely. Nothing has a more severe impact to your emtional well being than being cheated on.

It's a sucker punch to your ego.

A hammer to your self-esteem.

A wrecking ball to your self-confidence.

A a bullet to your image of love.

Cheaters SUCK.

Wow BA,

I think its a test.

1. To see if you reply. If you do...she probably thinks it was just a fickle situation.

2. Like greenhorn said, to see what you've been up to...see if you moved on....(which I think you should do)

3. Just to be a bitch.

I wouldn't reply. Don't give her the satisfaction. Its done, over, kaputs! No need to recollect the horror. People move on...its what happens....so let it.

good BROTHER AARON...there is an old confucian saying that goes: "silence speaks a thousand words"

I know that if I was in her shoes it would kill me not getting a response back after I went out on a limb and tried to apologize and everything else she wrote in there. So I wouldn't write her back, after reading some of your posts and replies to other people and reading about your situation, you seem like a good guy with a good head on your shoulders... if she cheated then she doesn't deserve your time. My ex cheated on me and once I found out, I was out of there within an hour. I mean completely moved everything I owned in an hour and never ever looked back. Didn't respond to his e-mails insisting on friendship... the way I look at it, if they could cheat on me when we were in a "caring, loving committed" relationship, what in the hell would they do to me when they are just my friend? Shoot my dog? Kill my family? ok I am exaggerating a tad, but only to make my point. I hope this works out for you.

First off I'd like to congratulate BrotherAaron for making a comeback for ages. He got cheated on, then his girl moved on with his best friend. That sucks, she had all the power.

Now, BrotherAaron is calling the shots. You win, it's over. You don't have to do a single thing and you still have the power over her...which will eat away at her.

I think you still have feelings for her, but at the same time you realize you don't want her back. So do you forgive her by sending a polite email back, giving her atleast some power back? Or do you not bother replying and maintain control in this soap-opera drama that's going on? I think only you can decide.

Reply with a pic of some fairly unknown model, saying "this is my new gf, she doesn't want me to keep in touch with your" ;)

I think she's testing the water for at least a friendship. Greenhorn is right to note that she has been careful to say that she's no longer with the guy. Although that may be just to remove an obstacle to friendship...

What ya gonna do now, BA?

I think it mostly was to tell you that she's working and will pay you back the $ she owes you. If you don't reply, kiss your $ goodbye.

Whatever, why should BA give a damn ?

If she really was sincere, she'd send the money without tootin' her horn about it. It's easy. Just cut a check, put it in an envelope, and drop it down the chute.

I hope she isn't using the $ excuse as collateral...

(I know she is)

He would be ready to forego the amount, even if it is life's fortune, inorder to save himself from communicating to a cheat.

Oh for goodness' sakes. What does that serve? Ever hear the phrase 'cutting off one's nose to spite one's face'?

Yeah it is like cutting one's nose, but then the girl does not deserve any sort of reply from BA for the simple reason that she had cheated. In the process if BA loses some dollars then it does not matter.

Why should the girl think that BA is available to answer her mails whenever she choses to mail him ?

Money is nothing as compared to the pain of cheating.

She's asking for forgivenesss... and she's asking you to keep the door open.

She told you that it didn't work out with this other guy (for whatever reason) because she wants you to thank her for being honorable. In my books, its too little, too late.

And she's just being 'nice' about the cash... you aren't meant to accept it of course. If you were, she'd give you a definite about putting it in your account/cheque in the mail.

So sorry BA - I don't know what you were hoping for, but I think this throws up too many questions and not enough answers. And I agree - show your strength by deleting it and not replying.

Thanks for sharing though, that was a real team player attitude!
