What was your first job?

Recommended Posts

At age 15, I popped popcorn for the local video store on Saturdays (2-10pm) for $25.00. That lasted two Saturdays, the popcorn crease was burning and scarring my arm.

After that, I worked in a big ice cream cone making cones, shakes and burgers. It was a teeny~tiny place, just a nasty little dive with cockroaches and such. I still pass it often, but won't DARE to eat there, even 15 years later...lol.

I hate those days. Getting paid $4.25 an hour was horrible, almost slavery compared to what I do now. Ugh. It was the worst.

What about you?

BUT It was free nacho's, got to see a lot of races and I worked with all my dumb friends LOL so it was good

Well, like I said in another post, my first job was a park worker, picking up paper, garbage, bug-infested used condoms, getting rained on, having the sun beat down on me, etc. Fun stuff. No, really. I liked it so much that I stayed there three summers. To be fair, I made MORE than the $4.25 minimum wage. I made a whopping $4.76/hour. And I worked full-time, but without benefits. Or, at least, I had benefits with my mom, so I didn't have to take them.

I worked at a department store at the ripe old age of 16, I wouldn't dare do the fast food thing (never did) I have not enough will power to not eat everything in sight. Besides I love clothes way better than food... anyhow it was the worst job I ever had, I was always stuck in the fitting room. Women would come in and try on clothes and then bring them back out reeking of BO...

we would actually have to box all those clothes up and then get rid of them, thats how bad they were, couldn't even go back out on the shelves.

I got so tired of always being back there (I am sure my manager hated me to always stick me there) I asked to be somewhere else, anywhere else, didn't happen and not long after I quit. Thank God I never have to do that again.

I worked behind the bar at an Italian Restaurant.

I made salads and talked to all the long haired bikers that sat at the bar all day long.

It was fun and man was I chubby. I ate all the Tiramisu I wanted. Yummy!

I was 14 and was paid under the table. :o

Would you all agree that working as a kid is so much more inhumane than working now?

Now I've got 2 Mini Me's to worry about... so the idea of getting my paycheck only means I can pay the bills and buy cool stuff for my Peeps... LOL not to mention the fact that my boss in an idiot... bah!

YES! I TOTALLY agree. I make a LOT more money now, and the job isn't as inhumane, but now I have house payments and stuff! I can't just go to the mall and drop $400 on books, makeup, clothes, and hair accessories like I did when I was 16.

My first job was at a candy store that was closed down because it was a drug front.

I now work at a pizza place that stores marijuana in its walk-in freezer for a local cannabis club to avoid DEA raids.

I sure know how to pick 'em.

I started working at McDonald's with all my friends when I was 15, almost 16. I worked there for three years. I started at student minimum wage of $2.90 per hour and when I left I was making $4.35/hr - I was 18 and adult min wage was $4.25/hr. This was when the food was served fresh (no warming trays).

Then I went to a waitress job with my friends, back to $4.25 but had a blast.

Both jobs were a great experience!

For my first job, I was a snowboard instructor. I would make $100 in 2 hours, and often times end up with girls I gave lessons to having crushes on me. I loved it. In fact, I want to go back to it. I think I may drop out of school
