westernxer
I spent my summers doing plumbing when I was 14. Lots of pipes, trenches, and loads of dirt, but it was fun, and it made me tough. It also taught me the value of an education... I didn't want to do it for the rest of my life.
Naive
My very first job was at my dad's store when I was 5 and I worked for candy Now seriously, my first job was at 14 or so and I worked at a Swapmeet in the heart of Los Angeles Ghetto There were shooting inside the swapmeet every so often!!! I worked on weekends for approximately 75 bucks I worked around 9 hours and got 30 minute break, it sucked. Once I got into high school though I worked in a jewelry store in Downtown on Saturdays only and made 90 bucks for just doing the account for the whole week. It was pretty cool!!!! morrigan
I worked as a dishwasher at the nursing home where my mom worked during the summers when I was 16-17. I'm now a certified home speed washer. On summer breaks from college, I worked as a assistant secretary for a laywer in my town. He was a pretty jolly guy--maybe that had to do with all the bottles in his back office. He mostly did real estate and probate, and I witnessed more than a few clashes between family members over a will or lack thereof. Money tends to bring out the worst in people. Teag
My first job, I was a carhop at Sonic making $3.00/hr, I hated it other than working on Friday nights was actually pretty fun since all the cute guys would come and eat. They always left really good tips.

JPMorgan
I started out baby-sitting when I was 12 and did that until high-school. Then I worked in the school store during the day and as a cashier at various retail stores in the evenings and on weekends. At 17 I was made an assistant manager for a while where I got a raise to a whopping $1.68/hr.! Prior to that I was making $0.80/hr because I was under 18 (I think minimum wage at the time was something like $1.40). I've worked as a machinest, assemblyline worker, in a hospital laundry, head cashier, data entry clerk, word processor, and then in college I got some internships in a research field and at a body farm and now I'm a chemical/medical analyst. I work in a large lab that tests DNA / tissue samples and things from like employment physicals and sometimes spill-over work for autopsies / agents & reagents and things like that. In my area I usually work with airborne pathogens (good old cold germs!) but sometimes I work in other departments. (wish we had all that equipment they have on the TV shows!) Well, at least I don't have to spend a lot of money on clothes because I'm always wearing a safe suit!
