Seen my crush on a cooking website, stuck

The local news station in my area has a website with various topics. I was on there and I seen my crush posting on the cooking section. I recognized her from her avatar photo and she had her name shortened for her website nickname. We hung out with mutual friends. I haven't talked with her for about a year because I heard she had moved out of state.

 

I made a profile and for my avatar I used a photo of me from a distance because I planned to ask her out and if she said no it would be easier to handle the rejection. I replied to one of her comments then sent her a pm. Even though we hung out she may not remember who I am, so I didn't mention.

 

I told her I thought she was attractive, had an interesting profile and asked if she would be up for tacos. I got no reply but she accepted the pm. I gave it a day and then tried a different angle saying too much too soon gasp. She replied asking my age, where I was from etc. We exchanged some lengthy

messages and I found she's in the same city as me, she's single, where she works, her hobbies ect. In this exchange she mentioned a few times how she wasn't able to tell my facial features from my photo. I gave generic reply saying an actor who I kind of resembled.

 

A few days passed and I was going to try the taco line again thinking this was easier than I expected. I sent the pm but got no reply. I thought she would give some kind of reply after the exchanges we had. I guess she thinks I might be ugly because of the photo I choose.

 

It's been a couple of days, I still think I have some chance of getting a date with her but I'm torn on which way to go. Should I just upload a new avatar that shows what my face looks like and hope that changes her mind? Or visit her place of work, and try for the number in person and not even mention the cooking website business?

Uh you need to tell her who you are, then she can fairly assess whether she wants to go out with you. Otherwise you are being kinda creepy.
