truck DRIVER...?

There is a short story to follow. For one, one of my closest friends just dumped his short term girlfriend about 2-3 weeks ago for her friend. I like his ex-girl, we actually hit it off, and my friend told me that if she wasn't with him, she would've been with me, so he say's.

Anyway, it took some convincing but my friend gave me her number and said he was cool with it if i called her. Actually, he's the one who gave me her number and said i better call and don't blow it, anyway, He even gave me some advice and told me what i should and shouldn't do. \

So I called the young lady, WE all are in our mid twenties, left my number, said who it was, and that was that. Haven't heard back from her yet. It's only been a day. I was wondering should I just wait for her to call me back and let that be that. If she doesn't call, figure to move on, or should i call her back again? Or should I just roll it off, discount it, and figure, since my friend used her and treated her poorly, she figures I'd do the same..

If you're going to get on with women in this world, get out of your truck at the next stop and gain some sensitivity.

This girl has just had her ego walloped by your friend who dropped her for her friend after treating her like crapolla. That sucks. That is not a good feeling for anybody. This girl just got dumped and just lost a friend in the process. She's not thinking great about the world right now.

Then you come along...a friend of the guy who just treated her shabilly and then dumped her...and want to add another dimension to this drama. Gawd, leave this poor girl alone for now. If she does decide to go out with you, it'll most likely be a grudge thing and nothing more.

Let some time pass. Don't call her back. Let her do the calling. If you don't hear from her in a month or two, then give her another ring.

Please try to understand that this girl has been through a lot of emotional crap. She is very lucky to be away from your buddy and her girlfriend, who is now seeing him. She doesn't want to add another dud to her list of associates. You're going to have to do some fancy footwork to show her you're not the same kind of jerk your friend was to her.

It is just plain insensitive and almost cruel to try to get anything going with this girl right now. So leave her alone. Back off...and let her get over this humiliating chain of events.

I don't know what town you're in, but it sure is worth a soap opera.

Wait a few days for her to call you back. If she doesn't call you back you can try calling her again, but don't leave a message. And don't call her excessively. She may have Caller ID and would know how many times you have tried to call. You need to speak with her directly, either in person or on the phone.

Leaving a message on the answering machine is not the best way to make contact with someone new, but busy people are sometimes hard to catch up with. If you can't reach her by phone, try going places where you might run in to her.

Give it a few days. If you haven't heard anything from her and really want to get with her, then call once more. If nothing after that, then disregard. Plenty of fish in the sea. If you do hook up, don't do everything exactly how your friend said (do's and don'ts) you never know what might be just a front. He might think differently than she does. Good luck.
