Thank goodness for LS I give it 5 stars ***** for topping the list of what to do when you cannot fall asleep. XNemesisX
I am a true insomniac. Mix that in with mild narcolepsy...doesn't make sense does it? lol. Basically I will stay awake for days sometimes with 0 sleep...and I won't feel bad either, I will even stay energetic for bouts of time. Then, during some periods of time I will need LOTS of sleep...like up to 20 hours. I still haven't seen a doctor for the narcolepsy (I'm guessing its mild narcolepsy because I have hypnogogic hallucinations and I will sleep against my will at times). But anyway, I HAVE seen a doc for the insomnia. So....who knows maybe I have some other diagnosis. My sleeping patters are f***ed up. In a nutshell, you should see a doc and get a Rx for Hydroxyz. This is the prescription sleeping pill that I take. Usually just 1 will do...it will KNOCK YOU OUT. So be careful and don't take them unless you are sure that you can wake up in the morning (in other words don't take the pill sooner than 8 hours before you are scheduled to wake or else you will NOT wake up in time no matter how many alarm clocks you have!!!). Hydroxyz gets an A+ in my opinion. Its great. See your doc for it.
moimeme
There are a lot of other things to try before going the meds route. Google 'insomnia' and you'll find them (saves me typing them out). There's stuff like not having caffeine after a certain time, exercising but at the right times, etc.
XNemesisX
I should have added that meds should be the last resort. They are addictive. (at least I know the Rx ones are!)
