XNemesisX
Ok...so I leave to see this ex of mine tonight. We are going to be spending a lot of time at this lake and I am WHITE. You might remember me having that BAAAD sunburn not too long ago also. It's even STILL peeling but I wouldn't say its burned there anymore. I *did* have a base tan prior to getting fried up but since I got badly burned I have avoided sunlight like the plague ever since and somehow lost every bit of base tan that I had. There are going to be other people there also and I know they will all have tans. Call me immature or self-conscious but I'm freaking out over being white as a ghost. Has anyone tried professional airbrush tanning? I have an appt this evening at 6:30 but the only problem is...you can't shower for 8 hours, sweat, or get water on it. Is this cutting it too close before I get there? I don't want to reak of DHA when I arrive. Has anyone been airbrush tanned? Does it REALLY come off that easy before the 8 hours is up? tiki
If you do it, be careful that you don't burn. Because unlike the other chicas, you have no base tan, even if you look like you do (artificially). A co-worker did the spray tan and she had orange knuckles and drips down the back of her arms. SUCKS!!
Author XNemesisX
I have done the walk-in spray tan where you stand in the booth and get sprayed and yes it looks AWFUL. I was hoping that airbrush tanning would look better (applied by a pro). Do you think this makes a difference? Or was your coworker airbrush tanned by someone? (or did she do the mist tan booth??) I wonder if they both look bad, or the booth is worse. I will NEVER go back to a booth.

Author XNemesisX
I hope so I'm considering just self tanning myself right now so if it looks like crap I can probably scrub the streaks off by the time I arrive at his place (which is 5-6 hours away!!) So think about it...I get this done at 6:30....I can't sweat or get water on it for 8 hours. Will this work? I wish they could get me in sooner dammit!
moimeme
We can't all be naturally perfectly tanned! I don't think there's such a thing as 'perfectly tanned'. Every time I see someone with a tan, particularly on her face, I think of how leathery and tough her skin will look in a few years. I never liked tanning - it's a boring, stupid waste of time IMHO. I get nothing but praise from my physicians for the state of my skin. And being told one has a 'snow white' look ain't that bad
Author XNemesisX
I agree with you moi. But it's sooo hard not to tan anyway. You look so much better with a dark complexion (at least I know I do). Nevertheless, I haven't frequented the tanning beds like I used to for the past 2 years. Prior to that I was going like crazy (sometimes twice a day - at 2 diff tanning salons b/c the same salon won't let you come in twice in a day). I looked GREAT but even at 22 I can tell that I have been to the tanning beds a lot..esp b/c I have sunspots on my chest ALREADY. So I promised myself I wouldn't go to the tanning beds very much from now on. I'm cool with it for the most part. It's just when I have to be at a LAKE or somewhere in a bikini that I start feeling self-conscious. It would be one thing if I looked good pale, but I really really do not look good pale. I suppose I will go ahead and try to self-tan myself. I don't want those other girls looking so much better than me (lol I know that sounds retarded). I even know that one of the girls who is going has IMPLANTS AND A TAN!!! Could I feel any more ugly tomorrow?
tiki
I'd rather see your skin be spray tanned than to be real tanned. And I'd rather see your skin be snow white than to be baked to death. It all evens out when you're older. I'm a redhead, but tan fairly well. I've learned with age that the tan fades, but the wrinkly, leathery look won't. But the most important thing is the health of my skin. I'm not up for frying it to look good now, only to pass up looking good later. I want to look good then too. But fake tan over real tan, sure. Just don't forget you have no base. Don't fry!
moimeme
People have bought and used self-tanner dealies and seem to think they work OK. There's some posts here someplace about that. I saw a TV show reviewing them the other day and I think they said L'Oreal's was good but don't take my word for it.
Author XNemesisX
Yep, I have tried the L'Oreal Sublime Bronze and it does look really good. It was probably me who suggested that on the self tanning thread. I think I will just put a little bit of that on and try to forget about the tanned goddesses who will be there The tricky part is getting the hands and feet to look normal...every where else it looks good except for those areas. millefiori
You're nuts, sweetie. Nicole Kidman looks great without a tan and nobody would want her to look like a tanned fake blonde.
