Met a girl, but injury keeps getting in the way...

So I'm part of a road cycling club. It's a great way to meet healthy, like-minded people. I did in fact end up meeting an interesting girl on one of our club rides. After encountering this girl three times I decided it was time for me to ask her out, but then she injured herself and couldn't come out riding. At this point in the game, club rides are still the only venue at which I ever meet her, and I hadn't yet gotten around to asking her for her contact information. That was all supposed to happen at the same time as when I asked her out on a date.

Long story short, she told me (through an online "social" utility called Strava) that she could be out for a couple of weeks more. So meeting her on a club ride is not a possibility for a little while. Asking a girl out on a website like Strava is not an option. Facebook is an option I can use, but not one I've ever really favoured since I'm more of a face-to-face kind of guy. Is it worth the effort for me to wait patiently and keep trying to make this happen, or should I just forget about this? The more I wait the more I feel like I'm becoming emotionally invested in something that realistically has a 50-50 chance of happening. On the other hand I do enjoy the chase, but feel I haven't really had the chance to engage in it. Then there's the Facebook option, as mentioned, not my favourite. What should I do?

I think you are overthinking it. However you do it, ask her if she would like to get together for a low key smoothie (whatever chain is in your area). It falls right in line with healthy cycling or recovery. If she agrees, great. Have a nice, low key conversation. If she declines, so what. At least she got the idea you were interested. Then you can let it go until you are both biking again. Either way, she will be thinking about you while she is out of commission. If you had a chance, you odds will have improved. If you didn't have a chance, you lost nothing.
