trouble at home after being at university all year

Recommended Posts

hey

im home from uni for the summer and its awful ive been so used to having everything my own way eg cooking dinner and washing and coming and going when i please. things normal people take for granted but i see them as part of being independent now at home i feel like im going back in the past. three months being told what to do and have everything done for me .i am grateful my mum wants to do it but when i say u know i can do my own washing she says stuff like youll break the machine or all you eat is junk food and booze how could u be capable of cooking dinner wich is not true.

on top of that my sister tells me she hates me and cant wait for september when i go back to uni she also says how she didnt miss me all year so now we do nothing but argue .

to make my summer worse ive been lookinb 4 a job 4 a month now with no luck at all as aparentlly every job is filled or not avalible 4 just summer or i need my own car, also i think agencies love messing me round telling me theres work n then saying its dissapeared. this means im stuck at home 24 -7 no job no money no escape from my family. my friends are all on holiday with there boy friends or have jobs as they didnt go to uni but either way there all very busy. my family then criticise me telling me im not looking hard enough - if there arent any jobs out there it doesnt matter how hard u luck other then begging i dont htink there is ne more i could do. my family then shout at me for sleeping in every day but what they dont realise there is only so much day time tv u can watch after reading the job section twice. ahh

dont think im a spoilt cow im just so frusturated. has nebody out there been through anything similar?

Is that my son talking? It sounds just like him.

You are still a child in your parents' house. It's tough to make that transition from child to adult where parents are concerned - my mother sometimes treats me like I'm still 17 and I'm pushing 50.

Do you babysit? House sit? Do yard work? If there are no regular jobs you may have to get creative. If you are out looking for work every day (and NOT sleeping in) your folks can't complain, can they? Any odd jobs you can do for your folks like painting, yard work, cleaning, etc that you aren't already doing? Again, if you are working at something it makes it hard for them to complain.

surprise them by fixing dinner for everyone. do some volunteer work -- can you qualify and do lifeguard work at an area pool?

what are your hobbies? maybe you can get back into some old hobbies.
