Hi everyone!

So one of my friends just contacted me and told me they found a group with one of my pictures as the cover page. Im a travel writer and photographer. I looked in the about us section and I found my ex's email (the one who ghosted me). Funny thing he posted it the day he ghosted me lol and he hasnt removed it.

I wont contact him ofcourse but what the hell/ Should I contact his best friend? Im thinking to not give a reaction at all but wtf?

Perhaps it's nothing at all and he just really liked that picture you had taken. Or he's still thinking about you and is using the page to send you a message.

If you're in NC I would just tell your friends you don't want to hear anything about your EX, nothing, zilch. Then continue NC and keep forging ahead. :D

I guess he really liked the photo.

Is this a copyright issue or are you just confused? If it's copyright, approach him formally and ask him to remove it or pay for it.

I'm also a photographer.

I think it would be best to deal with it this way, if you don't want any contact:

TWO EASY STEPS FOR USING THE DMCA TAKEDOWN NOTICE TO BATTLE COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Take care.

Hi my loves

Im not saying its something. Im just saying its weird that he ghosted me, used my pictures on his group, and even if he liked it, he would atleast have removed it.

Im just confused. I wont contact him because Ive been four months NC and not planning on contacting him. EVER.

It's not weird if the picture doesn't hold extreme emotional significance for him.

What does emotional significance have to do with anything? You dont dump someone and use their picture. What a psycho.

Mountains/mole hills...Not sure why you're freaking out if you really never want to talk to him again.

It means you are making a big deal out of something that is small.

No, we're talking about this part .....

You are far too concerned with your Ex's motives when you should be focused on NC and yourself. All it's doing is causing you to have anxiety because you've not fully let go of him and he still has so much power over you.

@frozensushi ah I get it now, you are completely right. I am maintaining NC though but I do want the picture to be put down. I think I can suck it up and ignore it. One picture wont hurt anyone :)

I'd be in the same boat as you if that happened to me. I know it must be an awful feeling. That's why I'm glad I don't know ANYTHING.

2 weeks after my breakup, friends called me telling me they saw my Ex on a date at the place we used to frequent a lot. It killed me, I told those friends to please never mention her again to me or her activities. Sometimes you have to go through extra steps, but it's for you. It's so you won't have to deal with these stutter steps. I'm so grateful for NC, it's really helped.

Hi @satu I would love to hear what you think of this.

There are two issues:

Somebody using your images without permission:

I would get that image taken down. It's your property, and shouldn't be used for anything without your permission.

I took the unusual step of not making any of my images available online. I did this because I feel that viewing my images online would trivialise them. People view dozens, if not hundreds of images every day as they surf the net. I don't want to throw my images into that soup. They are to be viewed only in a real bricks and mortar gallery, or as framed prints.

If I were you I would get that image pulled right away; its stolen property.

As regards your ex bf:

He probably didn't think about it much and just used it because he liked it.

I don't think that there's much more significance to it than that.

But on a subconscious level, he *might* have been trying to attract your attention...

Get it taken down!

All the best,

Satu

I agree with everyone. My question is:-

1) should I just contact him with a message. Nothing too special. It would be ''hey, I found out you're using one of my pics without permission. Please take it down'',

2) I would contact his best friend and tell her but then its really non of her business. No reason to drag people into this.

3) I would just ignore it.

@satu I dont think he was trying to get my attention. I didnt even knew this page existed and he never told me about it when we were together. Its also weird that it has been four months and he hasnt removed it.

also this is a picture of me btw, not some random picture :)

OH, that makes a world of difference. I thought it was a destination picture we were talking about.

Send him a brief note asking him to take it down.

Yeah, this is much different. I'd send him a message asking him to please remove the photo of you. If he fails to do it you can try to have it taken down but FB support is rather useless.
