JS17
at 27, i'm familiar with just about everything to do with dating except second chances. when i break up with someone, or they break up with me, it's OVER. now for the first time i'm thinking about getting back together with someone i dated briefly. I'll try to make my story short..... I had a really bad break up with my ex in January. At the end of March I met someone online, which i had never done before. We met in person at the end of April and clicked immediately. We went out through May and hit a bumpy patch in the middle of June. I think that I just moved too fast emotionally and physically. He was kind of a jerk about it but apologized. We thought about working things out but I think I just needed some space and didn't realize it so I broke up with him. Within a week I did the rebound thing. Now a few weeks later I'm thinking about getting back together with the guy I dated this spring, I realize how good we are together but I would need to take things slow. I also don't know if he's open to just friendship or dating again. How often do these second chances work? I haven't been through it before and I'm wondering if I'm just setting myself up for disappointment.

The trick is to review what caused the break-up and resolve it. Don't do this on the first date, but once it starts to get serious again.
Jaime03
Would he be willing to give you a second chance? That is the question. I have in the past broken up with men and realized I wanted him back and how I know things will be different and then they didnt want to get back together. If he does want to start over then in my experience it is even better. The second time you go in knowing what to do and you have that to your advantage. The only way you are setting your self up for dissapointment is if he doesnt want to. Besides that you said you got along...every couple goes through hard times and people say things they do not mean. I think you should go for it, if you don't you will always wonder. country gal
i'm with romeo on this one ... and its certainly worth a shot, just be sure to be upfront with him in terms of your needs (taking it slow, etc). if he's serious, he'll work with you on it.
