Have you run into your ex?

How did you handle it? Do you think it depends on how and why the breakup happened? Or who broke up with who?

Yes, I have...2 weeks ago.

 

 

So after dating for about 2 1/2 months, I ran into him at a street festival. We dated for two months (met him online), then he ghosted me. I saw him first and said hi to him and instinctively gave him a warm hug. I still had feelings for him and was just happy to see him. He kept staring at my body, so I flirtingly did a twirl. We chatted for a couple of minutes and when we said our goodbyes, I gave him another hug. His last words were "I'll call you". He did not call, but sent me an email on the website that we met for me to call him. I did not, nor do I plan to.

 

 

Luckily that day, I looked well and felt well and was feeling quite confident. Later, I started to second guess myself on the extremely warm way I greeted him, but told myself that it was better than him seeing me bitter, depressed and looking like crap.

Good question OP. I had to think real hard as old age memory is getting a bit fuzzy.... IDK if it qualifies as 'running into' but I did personally interact with my exW and her BF on one instance where she had offered me back my boyhood bed she received in the divorce 'stuff' and hauled an item to her salon on the same trip. So far in my five decades of interacting with women that was the only run-in and it was purposeful (she asked and I agreed), not accidental.

 

I tend to see exes as the past and the instigator has varied and regardless of who did what it's over and done so should go as such. Heck I struggle to even remember exW's family member's names and we were married for a decade. It's all in the past.

 

However, had you asked the question 25-30 years ago, my answer might have been different on the handling part because, yup, people change throughout life.
