Calling in the middle of texting, turn off?

I had read over at another message board that while in the middle of texting back and forth with someone they were getting to know with online (yes, he had her phone #) that he would call in the middle of texting her.

I tend to do this with anyone, doesn't matter the gender...if the conversation seems to be getting a bit more detailed. Some have stated that asking to call, while in the middle of texting (yes...even asking) is weird.

Anyway, this woman said it was a turn off for her that he did this.

And I'm like "What?!"

It kind of got me thinking that this could be one of the many "ghosting" stories I hear about when a guy show's up and he's stood up, or she just is unresponsive.

And I'm thinking, "If she's turned off by something like that, then...she's got other issues going on."

But it's interesting hearing a woman's perspective...as this was a new one I never heard of, "Calling in the middle of texting...is a turn off, don't do it!" according to some I suppose

But in case you've always wondered why you were ghosted just before your first meet...these are one of those reasons.

I thought it was a Millennial age thing, but apparently not...there was this 36 year old that said this:

"I'm 36, and I think it's weird. I totally grew up phoning friends or walking to their homes to see if they're around. Now... not a chance! If I don't know you and you call me, I assume you have boundary issues -- which might be totally off base, but it's just so weird to me!"

Okay, let's take it back, "If I don't know you, and you call me!" It's a contradictory statement...how can someone have your phone number, but...not know you?"

Wouldn't this person be the one with issues? I mean, you GAVE this supposed person you don't know your #.

It's considered RUDE to call and not text to this person?

Personally, I can figure out why some of these people are still single, if something like THIS bothers them, how is it do they even survive in the real world?

As far as the 36 year old and the generational thing...the older people tend to recall a time they were perfectly comfortable with it, but now...they've gotten sucked into the whole texting generation.

I dunno, to write someone as a dating prospect just because of this action, just plain silly, yes? One remarked that "If they are phone people, then it probably wouldn't work out anyway"

This person said it nicely, " I think we've gotten too comfortable with communicating on the screen to the point where we come up with all of these unnecessary rules to disqualify someone. For f**ks sakes it's a phone call.

Agreed 100%

What is odd is that you are in your mid forties (?) clearly get a number and then what - text?

Then you intercept a text chat with a call? Do you actually have text chats? Really? Text chats are for longer term or LDR - not for a new potential date.

Why not just call?

I suspect someone who just started text chatting as being a no go and not interested - they wanted a pen pal - I can do that for a bit but I wouldn't want a call nor a date if they just started by texting me. Boredom city!

It was done to me and it actually made a good impression on me. A man that calls is a man that's interested. When I met my BF he first would text and about 2-3 text later he'd just call. I loved it because I liked him. The 36 year old that told you this probably had you at the bottom of her list of 'guy I must meet'. I doubt if lets say Chris Hemsworth called her she'd say 'how rude of you to call'.

My assumption is that this 36yo has issues of her own. Might be totally off base, she's just so weird to me ;)
