love1336x
My new hair cut has changed me! Lol. My hair used to be up to my lower back, but recently I have chopped it all off. It's beautifully in a bob. However, it has also come with me having this new confident attitude which I have never really display before. People who have messed with me at work... I am supporting myself against them! It's feels so AMAZING. It's coming to naturally as well. Once a person starts to talk crazy me, I simply SNAP, and put them in their PLACE ASASP! They never see it coming because I am typically a quiet little mouse, but not NO MORE. The wild thing is, in a respectful way, without getting ghetto, and crying. They truly cannot report me for getting out of hand because I am talking to them firmly! If I would have known chopping off my hair would have made me defend myself I would have done it ages ago!
jen1447
I've recently started to find bobs hot after seeing them on a couple girl-crushes. Never used to be my thing and I doubt I'd ever get one myself by they do have a place on some women. Yay for you.
truthtripper
So, if your hair grew long again would you lose your assertiveness? I hope you have slow-growing hair. If it was my hair, I'd have to get it chopped every two weeks to maintain the style.
GemmaUK
I have to say there is 'something' about hair length. I was never allowed hair past my shoulders as a little girl/teen. My Mum passed away when I was 17 and I grew it after that. Right now - I seriously need a cut as it's past my waist curly - I want it back up to bra strap level curly. I have other things to sort out just now but once I am done my next thing is a haircut as I know it'll make me feel better. Just be careful with being snappy OP. Don't forget the difference between confidence and arrogance. Sometimes it's best to step back and think and become aware than to snap.
SpiralOut
I used to have really short hair. I think it was called a "reverse bob" or something like that (longer in the front and super short in the back). It didn't change my personality at all, but I'll agree that I always feel better after getting a good haircut! Glad that yours is working out for you.
truthtripper
Just be careful with being snappy OP. Don't forget the difference between confidence and arrogance. I have to say, I've had both severely short(during my punk days) hair and very long hair. It made no difference to how people treated me. When I was 13 I got a pretty radical cut, mainly to get the attention of a boy I liked. He and my school friends gave me more attention for one day and that was it. Even though humans are visually influenced, it really is how you treat yourself that matters. People will initially see your short, snazzy hair, but it can't detract them from subconsciously(if not consciously) picking up on your body language. If it reveals a lack of confidence, it doesn't matter what hairstyle you have.

Don't forget the difference between confidence and arrogance. Sometimes it's best to step back and think and become aware than to snap. But that's the thing, typically I NEVER shoot at people. The way I am reacting to people can best be explained like this, if I touch a hot stove, my hand will move quickly. It's the same that happens with my temper. I got rear-ended a couple days ago, I came out of the car like a crazy MADD woman. Lol. I have gotten rear-ended now four times..... In my town NOBODY STOPS AT A RED LIGHT APPARENTLY! Because I'll be chilling at red light, and BOOM I am HIT, or getting off at high way when you're supposed to SLOW DOWN, Nobody here does that. So anyways, those four times I have gotten out of the car all calm, and nicely... NOT THIS TIME. I really truly don't care how people view me. They are the one who is in the wrong, maybe they should look at themselves and wonder why I am reacting the way I am. There's nothing wrong with me defending myself, especially when people are asking for it.
Herbalist
I've had a flapper bob for years. Like this: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet It's great for me as I have very fine, flat hair, and when I had long hair many moons ago, it was all flat and stringy. There's nothing wrong with me defending myself, especially when people are asking for it. OK, fair point. Remember though that you can state calmly exactly what is required, keep dignity and be rational. Perhaps I misunderstood. Perhaps your assertiveness has come out. If so - epic!! I am really pleased for you! Just keep in mind there is a line between assertiveness and freak out. Why I say this is that many women - myself included in the past have not dealt assertively but not calmly and in a dignified fashion. It takes a bit of learning between the two. However, this haircut has clearly changed you so you have become stronger - it sounds dumb but I get it completely! If you find you are 'snapping' you can now be assertive and reel it back to dignified woman. When I was a kid I was never allowed long hair. I grew it when my Mum died. My confidence grew as my hair did. Right now it's just too long and with that and another thing I am going through my confidence had been knocked back. I am still assertive and calm but not quite so sure?! But! I have a haircut booked in a couple of weeks!! Your thread made me remember to go do it (so thank you!) I want at least 4 inches off and I'll be a new me - I know it'll help the other current issue I have - without question!
