Today, oh my ...

I work three jobs these days - Working as a caregiver at a group home for the developmentally disabled most weekday mornings and every other weekend, and substitute teaching most weekday afternoons and free weekdays from the home, plus Lyft driving here and there. Today I subbed at an elementary school as a floater - teachers were going to a training session for a new computer system for a few hours here and there, I subbed for three different classes for two hours each. It was quite stressful, but that's another story...

I decided to brave the teacher's lounge and actually interact with the teachers, which is probably the most horrifying thing one has to face right out of Mean Girls (if you don't know what I'm talking about, where have you been?). I was fortunate that today it seemed to be occupied by all subs, which was a good thing. And this guy walks in who I had passed in the hallway at some point. Wow, he was ... Donald Sutherland nerdy hot like the prof in Animal House he played years ago. We started chatting. I kept it light and airy, but that little flutter was there if you know what I mean.

At the end of a very stressful day, we had to take the kids to the bus/car stops, he was there taking his to them. We chatted once we got outside, then once all had gone to their places we walked back. I got back to my room where I had left my stuff inside, he said "Oh, my room is further back". I was thinking this would be the moment where perhaps he would ask for my phone number, but ... He said "It was nice talking to you, see ya." And then he left. Bummer.

I know it's for the best, really not a good idea to have an interest in someone you work with, even if for a temporary job like this was. I hope I see him again someday...

But I'm guessing you don't even know his relationship status yet so you have some visiting to do before you even know if he's available -- and vice versa. I do like a Donald Sutherland type, though! I had an off and on relationship with one, too.

Maybe he's already in a relationship

Could be, yes. But I've been around guys who mention the gf to me when they sense that somethin somethin from me, or some other who have said flat out "I am not interested in you". I didn't get that from him, or at least he didn't say it. But ... I have no way of contacting him or finding anything out otherwise. I happened to hear someone say his last name so I at least know that. I Googled a few things to see if I could find out anything but ... It's slim to none if I have any kind of means of finding out anything about him.

Still ... It felt nice.

So is (was) the rule of thumb I have always lived by. My girlfriend of a year and a half, is a co worker who has had a crush on me for 12 years. My son said it was obvious, I never saw it because I wasn't looking. Why not double-check your crystal ball? (facebook stalking) Sometimes a little of that goes a long way to answering the unanswered.

Don't worry about the dating from the workplace part. If it happens, so what about the rest.

I'm in a dry spell myself, so I know that kinda sucks. But I think it's good you're at least having somewhat flirty conversation with men you like. I find that my love life has momentum. When I start talking to interesting men more, there's a snowball effect and I get on a roll meeting more of them, till eventually I click with somebody romantically. So just keep the fun, flirty interactions going with anyone intriguing you meet.

A few months ago I had this encounter with someone. I am a substitute teacher, I work all over the place across the city. I was subbing in a building in November and I saw this other sub there. For more information, see this thread:

Nothing happened, he was friendly and all. I just hope that someday I will see him again. I don't even know his last name so I can't research him and have nothing to go on as to clues to who he is or anything about him. Save for one fact, at lunchtime he took out a pamphlet about Jesus. Ha ha ha ...

But when I sub in buildings, I look at the list of subs in for the day and just hope maybe I will see his name there. Kind of pathetic, I guess, but I hope someday I will see him again. I had a thing for him. Is that bad?

Is there an actual question here somewhere or is this your journal? I am here for a cheating wife and you are just thinking out loud about some day fantasy. Do you have an actual problem? This isn't Craigslist missed connections you know?
