Caliboy
So you can't get that One ex out of your head, several months or even many many years after you parted ways, the temptation to give it another try is still there ... Is that one ex just a crutch ? Or your once-in-a-lifetime match ? How do you know ?
Philosoraptor
Sounds like it's a distraction that is keeping one from fully focusing on their own happiness.
DrReplyInRhymes
A crutch is something you use until you get better - example: rebound relationship Can't get someone out of your head can be infatuation, obsession, or true love, depending on the recipients view. If they aren't into you, you're now creepy and obsessive. If they are receptive, you're now determined and persistent. Really, don't worry about the particulars. Give it a shot. If it fails, either assess the situation and try again, or give up and move on to something else.
RecentChange
Eh, I have had people I couldn't get out of my head, and it certainly wasn't because they were "the one" Memories are often closer to fantasies - the good parts glorified, the bad parts forgotten. Is it really this PERSON that you can't get over - or are you stuck on the experiences you had with them?
