Do you believe in spells or that they can work?

What about focusing your "energy" on a wish and believing it will come true...do you think there is any power in that?

Do you think that IF spells are real and can work that it is your own psychic energy causing them to work or the work of something *else*?

I don't know why I am interested in knowing this. I am skeptical BUT I do have a few odd things occur in my life that make me wonder if your psychic energy can cause things to happen. I also believe that ouija boards and tarot cards are really just tapping into your *own* ESP and isn't the work of some spirit or crap like that. I did tarot cards and asked about my ex. The "final result" card was the JUSTICE card which pretty much means that wrongs will be made right and that somebody has something coming to them! (hopefully HIM and not me!)

Some Examples:

In high school I had a crush on this guy. I took a picture of him and put the picture behind the headboard on my bed. This is a well-known "spell" for making that person think of you. What do you know? Within one week of doing that he asked me out and he barely ever talked to me before.

I made a wish one night outside where I focused all this energy on the wish and I wished for this guy (not the headboard guy lol) to fall head over heels in love with me (this was also done in high school, mind you). In a week or so, he was calling me and asking me out. We ended up dating for 2 years and I was the one to break up wtih HIM. He is STILL in love with me. We have been broken up for 3 years and he hasn't even tried to date anyone since. Coincidence?

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this topic. I think this might be an interesting conversation anyway! :)

I think you adjusted your behavior slightly, and unconsciously, thus sending more positive signals to the guys. It is not the spell that works, it is the caster that does all the work.

Agreed.

XNX, if you buy into the Tarot or Ouija board experience at all, you aren't a skeptic. You may have some doubts, but it seems you are a believer in this occult nonsense.

Look around and read a bit, you might find some of it interesting.

I guess you'd have to take a good look at all the times it 'worked' against all the times it didn't. I'd say the percentage would be no greater than allowed for by chance.

I do think to some extent you can influence an outcome, but that comes with the subtle and subconscious changes you make in yourself, and setting yourself to a goal of making it happen.

Some people call it 'spells', others the 'power of positive thinking', others 'prayers', others 'wishful thinking', etc. You get out of it what you put into it.

Rent the movie What The Bleep Do We Know. And then ask yourself that same question.

We make the life that we want. When you get up in the morning visualize your day for 10 - 15 minutes, seeing yourself go through your daily routine, seeing yourself at work, your co-workers, yourself interacting with your co-workers etc... think positive, see yourself in a good mood, as well as them. It works.

As for spells, there are many that exist, but then again are they really spells or are they really what we want to happen? As in the movie, a question asked is "How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?"

I was all about that movie until I realized it was produced by the Ramtha people. I didn't even recognize J.Z. Knight! I fell for it hook, line and sinker and wanted it to be true. Of course, that's the idea. ;)

I liked the message behind it, but I don't exactly trust the source.

Naw I don't believe in the occult crap. I don't believe in demons answering tarot cards and ouija boards. I really think we all have the ability to have ESP though, and if the answers turn out correctly it could just be your own intuition.

If spells and other magical things were real, I would think that everyone would know about it, sort of like penis enlargement exercises and pills. Everyone would be able to do magic, and every man would have a huge member.

Then again, if magic was for real, penis pills and exercises would not be necessary.

Bah! d'Arthez is right, you did all the work and it had nothing to do with a spell.

Everyone that believes in telekinesis raise my hand. :lmao:

Damn... penis enlargement pills don't work..

I alway's throw salt over my left shoulder for good luck.. But that is a superstition not magic ..

We are alway's trying to manipulate an outcome and we sometimes use magic and superstitions to do this

Occultism: a belief in hidden or mysterious powers and the possibility of subjecting them to human control. i.e., incantations...

You say you don't believe in "the occult crap," however, what you are describing is certainly just that.

This is my opinion; you can take it or leave it, but I would say be careful about this kind of thing, in fact I would say, stay away from it. When you allow this kind of influence into your life it can be damaging. Ouiji boards, tarot cards, magic spells, any of this sort of thing is connected to satanic influence. I know you don't believe that, and I doubt I can convince you otherwise, but I hope you'll at least think about it.

The mind is the battlefield and satan always tries to present evil in such a way that it appeals to our senses. He wants to destroy any ties we have to God - - he wants to move us to a place far away from God, and occultism is one very effective way for him to do that.

Those are my thoughts on that....

I don't think she's talking about that weird stuff.. like CASTING spells. I think she's talking more like willing things to happen. Nothing really weird..

As a Wiccan of 8 years who was raised Catholic here is my take.

Spells are pretty much a focus of your energy. Used for the right goal (and I don't mean love or levitation) and the right way they can work. Most of the spells I do (which are not many because I am a lazy Wiccan) are self healing spells. These are close to meditation where I can picture negativity leaving my body. These do make me feel better always.

But spells (especially love spells) are not always for getting what we think we want. I know a lot of Wiccans who have had bad experiences with them. I think what it comes down to, is when you focus that much energy on something in your life it changes your perception of it. Thus doing spells can change things because it can also change how you see those things.

I think this is a great quote:

"Spells are not about turning people into frogs or granting wishes. A spell is a set of actions and prayers that you do and say in order to ask for divine help with some particular aspect of your life." Mnemosyne's Realm

That is really interesting BlackenedAngel!!

You know, I decided for the heck of it to do a little "prayer" "spell" or whatever you want to call it about someone that I wanted to call me. I just lit a candle and meditated on how much I wanted to talk to this person and wanted him to call me. He hadn't called me in a pretty long time (like a week) and he called me just hours later.

Coincidence?

Hmm..this stuff is really interesting me.

BlackenedAngel, what do you mean by

when you focus that much energy on something in your life it changes your perception of it. Thus doing spells can change things because it can also change how you see those things.

Have you tried making your wish on a penny that you found on the street ?

It might work ..

Maybe they heard about you and are hiding instead ?

OK Nemesis I will use this as an example to ilistrate the point I was confusingly trying to make.

Say you do a Spell to make yourself more open to love. You go through the spell and afterwards you feel better about yourself and more at ease, like a lot of your insecurities are gone. You feel like you are open to more love. When you go out in the world you will have more confidence and we all know confidence attracts the opposite sex. In conclusion, the spell changed how you perceive yourself and made you more desireable and made you feel better about yourself. So it works. Very confusing point I was trying to make but it all comes down to what you feel "worked" or was a success. If you feel you succeeded than you did.

Oh ok...makes sense. I understand now :)

So really then, the big "spells" such as getting someone to love you, becoming rich, (I even heard of one that is supposed to change your eye color) or other types of spells are just bogus and not even possible?

Basically, "spells" are just a mind trick you do on yourself and then you subconsciously make it a "self-fulfilling prophecy" in a way?

But what about the call I got? Do you think that is just a coincidence? Because how I felt about myself shouldn't have anything to do with him suddenly picking up the phone to call me when I truly believed he would never call me again.....

I am not saying Spells are mind tricks. Spells are what Wiccans call prayers for the most part. Like that quote I posted. They are asking the divine to help out in your life. Wiccans do not really use spells to "get rich" so to speak. We use prospertity spells though much in the same way you pray to God for financial help. Love spells violate the Wiccan Reede (which is basically don't do spells that will harm others) because they can often times be manipulative. Before I got really into Wicca I did a love spell and talk about backfire.

The call could be a coincidence. It could be fate. It could be that you focused your energy and he was thinking of you too. No one really knows. We all have our beliefs but no one really knows what and why life is. The most important thing to do is find the right path for yourself, whether its Wicca, Christianity, Budism, etc.

I know I sound like a fortune cookie.

As far as the eye color change spells go, you'd have to ask a someone who specializes in witchcraft. Wiccans don't put much faith in them and I don't think I have even seen anything close to those in my books.

LMFAO Alpha! You're a piece of work eh!:p You keep on giving me visuals!

I don't believe in "spells" but I DO believe in positive thinking that creates positive energy which leads to confidence levels being higher and good things happen. The power of thought is very powerful but it doesn't lead to winning the lottery or landing a new wonderful job. It's more healing energy...Ahh, I don't know if anybody knows what I'm talking about, hard to put into words right now...Once I can say it so others get what I'm saying, I'll post more...

In the meantime, Sweet Dreams Alpha! :bunny:
