Springsummer
So I just got a cat recently, therefore I looked up the internet to learn a bit about cat, somewhere in wiki mentions that neutered/sprayed cat live about twice as long as those that aren't. So it makes me wondering if it applicable to human as well? just in another thread in this forum, it mentions pregnancy and having children did a number on a woman's body. sex could make people stupid and drain one's life force (remember the Seinfeld episode about George stop having sex and became super smart?). anyway, after I help myself I always feel my brain starts to not working well. So I am thinking maybe a celibacy and child-free life actually could be very good? If so, there are not much needs for a relationship either, especially relationship seems to produce more headaches and heartaches than good things. Just a thought... puzzledfemale
What? Anyways, you want children, have children. You don't want, then don't. Don't need to care what other people say.

So, even though you might want sex and intimacy and children, a natural human desire/need, you would go through life without it so that you can live longer???? I don't want to live longer if I am not enjoying and having my needs met. That's not fun. If you don't want kids, that's fine, and preventable. If you don't want relationships either, that's preventable too. And, given the negativity regarding relationships, I don't think there's much danger of having one. That is a personal preference but shouldn't be based on whether you want to live longer. That's very odd thinking.
thefooloftheyear
Its a proven fact that sex hormones actually enhance one's life and make a person far more healthy...It helps with bone growth/density, muscle strength and a variety of other benefits... So no....its not worthwhile.. TFY
GunslingerRoland
Is this a serious question? Have you ever seen those celebrations for people having birthday's in their 100's? Often they have many kids, and grandkids and great grandkids. Sure, life expectancy probably took a bit of a hit with child birth before modern medicine, but deaths from complications with child birth in people is extremely low in first world countries now. This should go without saying, but cats are a very different species than humans. There social functions are very different then ours. Not to mention our biology. You don't hear about tests ever being done on a cat to see how something will work on a human do you? It's not just because of animal rights activists, it's because they don't have much in common with us.
Got it
So I just got a cat recently, therefore I looked up the internet to learn a bit about cat, somewhere in wiki mentions that neutered/sprayed cat live about twice as long as those that aren't. Did the research say that they lived longer because of the negative impact of sex/offspring bearing. I think what is being factored in as well is that intact cats tend to roam more, fight more, and then do have reproductive cancers as well. But the roaming and fighting tends to be a major impact of an intact/outdoor cat. I do know that animals do get reproductive cancers that spayed/neutered do not so, simplistically thinking, if we spayed/neutered humans than the risk of ovarian, testicle, etc. cancers would be much lower.
