Maybe is feeling low because of the expense of Christmas and the season. His erratic spending could be him hiding the fact that he feels helpless and inadequate being out of work and compensating by spending money irresponsible.

 

I do not think you are being irrational at all. You sound frustrated with the current situation you are in and the consequential actions of your husband. Is he actively looking for work and keeping you informed about each application?

Do you both work? How is your financial situation in general? How would he stop you from spending money on yourself?

Info is not enough but yeah, everything happens to everyone. Some voice it and some don't.
