[seek some guidance in my relations]

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm a 21 year old college student and really seek some guidance in my relations. About a year ago I proposed to my current fiance, however, she and I live apart but together at the same time, I typically stay on campus at my college, and she stays at my parents where I go to stay so that I may work the weekends. These last few months I feel like we've drifted apart from each other and really don't know where to go about my relationship anymore, I've almost got a slight regret for proposing so early.. I realize that it seems I should probably break it off, but I really hate hurting others and seeing her specifically cry.

What should I do?

Grow a pair. You'll hurt her worse by prolonging this travesty. Dump her, because you are not all in. It's best for everybody, even though it might hurt right now.

From your story, I'm guessing your parents are still married to each other? They know both you and your fiancee well since she lives with them. Share your concerns with them, and ask them both for advice.

Do you belong to a church? Have a mentor at school or work who is happily married? They also know you well. Ask those people for advice too. Explain your concerns and ask them for their input. They have a good sense of your personality, personal values, and life goals and can adjust their advice to account for those things.

You've been engaged a year. How long were you dating before you got engaged? How long have you known your fiancee?

Has something changed that is prompting your concerns about your relationship?

My college BF dragged our relationship out but he wasn't really into it anymore. I really wish he would have just ended it with me. The feeling of being with someone who essentially downgraded me was much more hurtful. I eventually got tired of it and wanted him gone but I really wish he would have just set me free to find someone else.

^^^^^ this. If you're not feeling it, call it off. She'll thank you for it in the long run.
