Finally a guy who seems normal and asked me out without messing around with loads of meaningless messaging and seems really nice.

Date is on Friday 13th though.....! LOL.

An OLD on Friday the 13th? I would wear running shoes if his name is Jason.

It is a small table service cocktail bar that I know. it was close to both of us. Weather is going to be between 0-5 centigrade. 0 = 32F I think.

What's the jason point?

He's referring to an old American Horror movie...just a joke

Ok, so what is your style?

Are you a dress up kind of girl?

Or a casual kind of girl?

What length is your hair?

How tall is he? How tall are you?

Are you into jewelry?

Omg, I love this lol :D

Yasss!

Ok, love that hair length. A stellar suggestion for that length would be very loose curls/waves. Try a curling wand for that. Not a curling iron.

I'd go for a nice cocktail dress...something on the shorter side but def not too short. (A full length dress would be over kill of course) I would avoid any sequins/excessive beading etc. I'd go with maybe a banded cocktail dress. Those are fab and they're not too over the top.

Depending on the cut of the dress I'd go with a necklace. For some reason all the guys I've dated really like necklaces (dont know what thats about...maybe the close proximity to boobs..who knows)

Def earrings....they can be studs or classy hoops, half moon etc, you'll know which to wear once you put the outfit on

A nice bangle for your wrist would be great...but dont over do it with the jewelery....only add a bracelet if the rest of your accesories are somewhat understated

If you're going with a cocktail dress, I'd go with some nice pumps. Maybe not stilletos though because you're already 5'4 and he's 5'10 so you dont want to give yourself too much of a boost. Maybe a heel around 4' to 5' max

Oh and dont show too much boobs. I'm sure you already know that though :D

Ok....makeup? Whats your style?

I already have natural curls LOL.

Most dresses now in style dont show cleavage and up up to the neckline so I have them mostly like that.

Make up I got for the natural look.

I will see if I have low heels.

Ooh exciting.

Ooooo so excited for you!!! :bunny:

I recently pulled myself out of the dating game so I'll just live vicariously through you :D lol

Oh and dont forget the lip gloss! Plenty of glosses in neutral/subtle shades to chose from. Guys cant resist glossy lips! ;)

I will. I will see if I have any gloss or buy a new one.

He complimented a dress of mine in a photo that is really feminine. So I think I will go with the feminine classic look as that is what he pointed out that he liked.

OP I think you got a bit to invested in a date with a guy you had never met.

Most first dates don't go well.

What did he say that was so rude?

Invested?! INVESTED????

Where does it say I give a damn about this guy? I said he sounded nice and hadnt messed around with meaningless messaging. I had an enthusiastic chat with another poster about what clothes to wear but I like dressing up, that is all.

I went with an open mind and no expectations. He was late. Very very late. Like 45 minutes late. The only reason why I stayed is he texted me and sincerely apologized in advance. There have been transport problems lately so i forgave him. He was coming by public transport.

Then he said as he was late drinks were on him. He wanted to leave the bar after a coupe of hours. Then he said what do you want to do now. It is freezing cold outside and dark you cannot walk the streets or parks as it is too dark and cold. The only thing to do is dinner, movies etc.

He knows I am between jobs. He actually said to me after asking me what I wanted to do, that if I could afford dinner as I am out of work because he only paid for drinks as he was late as a way of saying sorry and he wasn't paying for dinner too. Right. Who the hell asked him to pay for dinner? Way to go telling me he woudnt have bought me a drink if he hadnt been late. Again, no one asked him to pay for drinks, he offered and then effectively reminded me he only did it to say sorry for being late.

I just said lets go then. Thank god my bus turned up right then and said there is my bus, I am going home now and he gave me a peck on the cheek.

He sounds awful. Sorry op.

By invested yeah i meant all the back and forth planning, and the general level of excitement.

To me, that's getting invested. I'd spend less time planning for a wedding. But that's just me :)

Better luck next time.

Wait he expected you to pay for the date from the start? Was him being out of work talked about beforehand where he was hinting towards him not being able to pay? That's just rude he should not be dating.

I think he was expecting me to go halves from the start until he was late

It hadnt come up but i told him that night when he asked where i worked.. but doesnt mean I cant afford a drink.

i am between jobs not him.....so he asked me where i wanted to go and threw in my face if i could afford or not. I would not have gone out for a drink if i couldn't pay.

Sorry it didn't go well,OP.

To be fair, I imagine men hear all sorts of reasons why women can't split the bill, so perhaps he thought you were setting him up to pay for the evening. Agreed he handled it poorly even if that was the case.

No. Not saying you did this. Just saying that, OLD being what it is, perhaps he thought (erroneously) that this is what you were doing. Doesn't excuse him being rude, though.
