Eye contact from a customer

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

First I want to say thank you to all who read and reply to this.

Well here it goes. I'm 19 years old. I'm Caucasian. I wear several rings and i have double piercings on my left ear, casual no gauges or anything crazy. I'm 6'0" 235lbs. I have a receding hairline which I HATE especially being so young. I think I'm decent looking, but honestly i never get to many looks or rather looks that I notice or looks that are obvious that they like what they see. So average. I'm not the kind of guy that thinks every chick is into me or is flirting with me just because she makes eye contact and smiles.

I have been in 2 relationships, one for 3 years and recently my second one for about 10 months. We broke up about a month ago.

Anyways my story is this, so I'm in a community college and I work at a coffee shop, a well known popular coffee shop which apparently America Runs On.

Soooo. We get some customers particular females who are just so freaking hot, like omg women are sooooooo beautiful lol.

More specifically today i had my first encounter or situation rather with a certain instance. Fyi I love all types of girls. I don't have a preference. I Like thick, skinny, thin, chunky, bbw, black, Hispanic, white, etc. It has to do with the face and confidence. If you got a pretty face and you know how to communicate your good.

I been working here for 5 months now. So a female customer walks in today. Orders food and waits at the pick up line, its just her and another customer. I make the other customers drink and hand it to him and as i do i look at the girl, she looks at me and smiles, i smile back and we hold eye gaze for several seconds, way longer than i ever have with anyone looking across a room. Her smile is more of a smirk and her eyes were slightly roaming my face and like shoulder area i guess. I liked what i saw and kept looking. I was called away to the back room for something so i had to break eye contact. But I really felt she liked what she saw in me. Like we held eye contact for what seemed like a long time, she held get smile/smirk the whole time. It literally was at least a 4 second hold. And there was no reason for us to be looking at each other. She was Hispanic about 5'5" 150 lbs and thick. Must have been at most 3 years older then me. She could be 20 though. She had a pretty face and was dressed casually, normal amount of cleavage showing what have you. Nothing smutty or saying look at me!

Like i really felt compelled to ask her for her name and number, but everyone especially the shift lead would have saw me. So i kind of chickened out especially cause I'm on the job. But i regret it. I feel i should have went for it regardless of consequences or embarrassment. Fyi iwould not have been fired for doing that, but of course gossip would happen. Not that inecessarily care about the gossip, but its still bs you gotta deal with especially if i got rejected lol.

I'm wondering from your guys opinions if i did the right thing or should have i went for it? Please also explain why for your answers. Thank you.

It's definitely hard to mix work with pleasure. I don't think you did the wrong thing, but if she were to come in again and do the same thing, maybe start a conversation? If I liked a guy at a coffee shop I'd be getting coffees all day every day until I was hyper from caffeine!

Good Luck!

Eye contact is nice and all but unless you talked to her it's hard to say if she's as interested as you think she is.

Next time you see her chat her up a little.

I'm sure you're perfectly capable of attracting women, especially since you find them all so delectable, and I bet this one likes you just fine, but you never know when one might be married and feel at ease flirting because she knows it can't go anywhere. Not everyone wears rings either.

Anyway, what have you got to lose by writing your number on her cup next time?

Look could be deceiving....a few years ago, a 19 years old hit on me. I asked how old he thinks I am and he said 25. when in fact I could be his mother.

so don't assume the age.

Unless someone is completely delusional, it's safe to say assume if you felt "it" (the attraction), they definitely did too. The next time you see her, say something like "Fancy seeing you here again". She'll feel good that you remembered her. If she rolls with it, then you are all set. Good luck!

Baristas have so many admirers (so I've read on the internet) and opportunities. Probably just because of the sheer volume of people they are exposed to. Maybe I should become one as a second job. I'm likely too old though. I never see anyone at the counter over 30. It's been suggested to me before to become a bartender but I'd probably attract too many drunks and I'm done with them.

Oh and to answer the question, in situations like this (you or they are at work) just write your number and a few words on a piece of paper and slide it to her. Liike "You're cute. Call me".
