Cnh41268
So my boyfriend got fired from his job last Wednesday. He literally loved that job and made really good money. He stayed the rest of the week with me and was okay, well as okay as he could be. I could tell he was down in the dumps though. Friday night he went home, since then he has barely talked to me. But not just me, he won't be active on Facebook for a day at a time, doesn't get on Snapchat, no social media, doesn't wanna answer his phone. He'll talk to me once a day. He says he's just been playing video games all the time and bummin' at home. He doesn't want to break up, I get that much from him. But he doesn't say much else. I guess I just don't know what to do. I Googled stories like this and it seems like he is just depressed and needs space but at the same time I want to be there for him. I just don't know what to do. I'm so confused. Any advice or if anyone has been through something similiar, please help me out here.
Rockdad
Sounds to me he simply went into his cave as males are prawn to this. I would say by what you have posted it has absolutely nothing to do with you. There is nothing for you to do other than be supportive. When work pressure or dealing with the general public I find myself there. My wife is supportive, lets me be in my quiet mental place to think it out and work through it.
d0nnivain
His ego took a huge blow. If that job was part of how he defined himself you need to give him time - we're talking a month or more -- to lick his wounds. This has nothing to do with you although as the GF you get the pain of being ignored & the frustration of not being able to help the man you love when he's hurting. That said, there is nothing you can do. When he's ready he'll come out of his cave.
Author Cnh41268
I was thinking the same thing. I just needed reassurance. Thank you.

Author Cnh41268
No. Lol. He just really loved that job. And it will be hard for him to find another one that pays as much with as great of benefits. He'll figure it out.
Author Cnh41268
He actually called and videochatted me today. He seems like he's feeling a little better. He actually shaved and left the house. Lol. He's kind of ignoring me now but he was on Snapchat with his brother and cousin. So at least he's hanging with the guys which I see as a good thing. So I'm leaving him alone. Hopefully he snaps out of it.
salparadise
I'd suggest being a little more proactive. Let him know you miss him and that he's special to you. Try and get him out of the house to do something. He may not be able to ask for support and reassurance, but I bet it will help. He's human, and the need to be needed at a time like this is probably there.
