Rosalind
Well now, THIS really takes the cake. I have friggin STYE on my lower right eyelid. How could this be? I think I suffered from one when I was a kid, but don't remember the treatment. Actually, is there any treatment? Is this something I should see the doc about, or do they disappear on their own. It's gross and painful. Damnit - I have something important scheduled in a couple of days, and desired to look my best Any suggestions for at-home cures....I can't beleive it could be caused by a nutritional deficiency because I've been taking real good care of myself, and literally downing a handful of vitamins and supplements daily. I look like such a dog right now
LucreziaBorgia
Ugh, I used to get those. Warm compresses, for a few minutes a few times a day until it comes to a head. No squeezing or touching it - just warm compresses to get it to open up. Wash it a few times a day with mild soap, and stop using eye makeup or wearing contacts if you do. If you get them often, you can see a doctor and get an antibiotic for it.

P.S it even hurts when I blink
Angelina1433
Unfortunately, yes, I've had one and they are disgusting! It was over Christmas one year, and the pictures of me were so attractive Besides the great advice that you got, there is some over the counter medicine that you can buy. Just ask your local pharmacist. I aslo dropped warm water in my eye as well as the very warm compress. I hope it clears up for you by the time your event rolls around! Thanks so much, Angelina1433 I have to go to the pharmacy tonite anyways, so while there I'll ask about any OTC ointment. Rosalind
Zephyr45
I've had numerous styes over the years. Can't actually think back to when I had the last one, must have been nearly a year ago. Here's an explaination and some treatment suggestions: http://vision.about.com/od/othereyediseases/f/stye.htm I've never used any of those treatments or seen a doc about it. They can be annoying as hell but they've always gone away within 1-7 days or so. The one thing I typically have done - and this may be a completely useless wives tale - is to yank on my eye lashes where the stye is, hoping to pull the one that's causing the problem out. (I had always thought a stye was a result of an eyelash/root getting infected somehow and thus if you just pull it out you will remove the problem and heal quickest) In any case, there's not really anything you can do. Unless yours is much worse than the ones I've had and warrants use of an antibiotic.
Author Rosalind
Thanks so much Zephyr45....I feel a little bit more comfortable today. I mean - the eyelid is still red, swollen, and I can feel a little 'bump' in there, but yesterday - oh gawd, it actually hurt just to blink! I think you are very right about the 1 - 7 day lasting thing. thanks again....... Rosalind
laRubiaBonita
you should Really get new eye make up. it is an infection, so your make up could still have yucky bacteria on it.

Thanks hun, not sure if I can afford to replace it all....but tonight I shampooed all my natural bristle eye-shadow brushes, and bought new mascara. Rosalind
suegail
I don't know much about them but i've had pink eye a few times and the last time I did the doctor prescribed gentamycin eye drops and it cleared up after one dose. If the stye is caused by some sort of low grade infection you might consider seeing the doctor and asking for some antibiotic drops. Hope you're feeling better soon... Hi suegail, Today there's still redness, but no pain...and the little 'bump' is gone. It seems to be improving...thanks for your reply! Rosalind
