Blanco
Two reason's IMO...At least from my personal experience... -I cut down a few years ago, and at that time, was probably under 10% BF..I was pretty shredded..I experienced the same thing you did..When I look at photos from then, it wasn't the body type, though...,My face became really chiseled...More than the physique, it was the facial appearance..at least that's what I think... Yup. I have a face that makes me look younger than I am, but the trade-off is that being anything other than lean makes my jawline and cheekbones vanish. Some guys can get away with this with a nice beard. But for guys like me who grow embarrassing supposed beards, it's an existence of choosing leanness or a face that looks like shapeless dough. But for guys like me who grow embarrassing supposed beards, it's an existence of choosing leanness or a face that looks like shapeless dough. Argh! This is exactly my problem. I cant afford to carry any real body fat, it just goes straight to my face I need to be around 20% or a tad higher, max. This then leads to a very thin body look unless I'm in the gym. Its a bit of a classic ecto problem actually ... skinny fat :) So I'm down from about 180-185lb to 170-175 and the girls are really noticing the change ... losing fat around my neckline together with gaining back a little arm/shoulder/chest shape has transformed the way I look. tbh I need to be around 180lb to look good, but with less fat than previously. As for what the girls actually prefer ... I don't know, but as a previous poster said, I see them looking (now) so that surely means something?
Els
Largely irrelevant to me. It would be a turn-off if he was actually physically weaker than I am, sure, but you really don't need huge muscles to be stronger than me.
Midnight.Amber
I actually prefer this type, some girls might like large meatheads but when I say muscle I'm referring to slimmer but more defined guys Same for me, Meatheads, body builder types, no thank you. Prefer lean and defined. If I am really into a man, and he's lean and defined, we're both in big trouble.
Chardonnay Renée
Who doesn't like muscles? I don't like men who look unnatural, i.e. the "roid look". However, what female isn't partial to a guy with a nice set of guns? What I like most though, is a symmetrical body. Guys who skip leg day look silly. I'm not into too heavy looking guys with skinny legs. My husband is 193cm (6'4") and only needs to look at weights to get big. He hasn't done a lot recently as he's been working too much. Luckily his basal metabolic rate is high, so he doesn't put on a lot of weight, either. My husband can also be slightly judgemental of others' looks, which I'm not really a fan of. He's just lucky, I guess, but doesn't appreciate how other people struggle to lose weight/gain muscle. For the guys judging women who are overweight; don't assume it's all down to eating too much and/or a lack of exercise. Some women just had bad luck handed out when it was time to collect their genes. I, too, was also pretty lucky in that regard. I'm not overly tall at 5'5", but I don't seem to put on weight quickly. Even after having twin boys, I never gained more than about 10 kilograms. I've always kept myself in shape and eaten decent food, which has definitely helped. Within six months I was back to my pre-baby shape and body. I worked hard, but I cannot stress enough how I am lucky genetically. A girl I used to work with had a thyroid condition, so she had a medical reason for why she couldn't lose weight. Another, whom I've been friends since High School, had gastric sleeve surgery to help her lose weight, with amazing results. As another poster mentioned, there's many medical conditions which make shifting weight almost impossible. PCOS and adreneal fatigue/addison's disease, where the adrenal gland pumps too much or insufficient cortisol, are among of many conditions considered barriers for weight loss. thefooloftheyear
I just find it absolutely laughable how some can characterize someone as having a personality disorder or lacking in intelligence, based purely on a body type...With that kind of intuition, maybe y'all should quit your day jobs and go earn a living in Vegas at the Roulette table... I mean think about it...There are guys sitting in prison, no access to steroids or other supplements, no access to fancy gym equipment(some have no equipment other than their own body), eating the carb rich slop that's given to them, yet can walk into any gym in Anywhere USA and have a superior physique to better than 80% of the guys that are doing everything right and have every possible resource at their disposal....They are just genetically superior human beings in this respect...It speaks nothing of their character or personality and it's ridiculous to judge in that way... There is another thread on another part of the forum where a woman is wondering if her chubby and soft body turned off her mega fit guy that ghosted on her...This is the crux of the issue for many women...It's got absolutely nothing to do with the guy and his apparent "personality issues" based on his appearance...It's about the woman's insecurities in this dynamic.. In general, women want to be seen as the "prettier" one of their pairings...They don't want to be upstaged by a guy that may get a lot of attention when they go out...I think that;s the reason why women favor more of the "surfers or swimmers" physique over the powerful/muscular one. ...In clothes, the swimmer looks like any other skinny guy walking down the street or out with their girlfriend..They wont draw any attention to their physique in the same way a guy like Dwayne Johnson would..It maintains the focus of attention on the woman... Guys like to "show off" their hot girlfriends/wives because that's how guys approach it, and in general aren't feeling that insecure about it...Other guys will generally give kudos and tip caps at guys with good looking women..With women it's a different story...Woman sees another woman with a good looking or well built guy and they are either eyeing the guy or trying to figure out how to get his attention away from her, or they may even resort to intimidating or ridiculing the girlfriend with the "I don't know what he could possibly see in her" nonsense...It's crazy stuff.. Els
They wont draw any attention to their physique in the same way a guy like Dwayne Johnson would..It maintains the focus of attention on the woman... But, do you really think all women perceive Dwayne Johnson as the height of male hotness? I can't speak for anyone else, but there are quite a few male celebrities whom I find waaaay hotter than The Rock . While none of them look physically weak, most of them are less "muscled". I don't think any man should stop bodybuilding if he enjoys it, regardless of what women like or think, but more muscles isn't guaranteed to be an attractor either (beyond a certain point anyway). Popsicle
Slimmer with defined muscle just looks better than too much muscle. It's that simple. Just like a woman with curves (not fat) looks better to men than a rail thin woman. It just looks better to the opposite sex. I also find that the bigger the woman is, the more she will want bigger dudes. The smaller the woman is, the more she will want the swimmer body type guys. It's like a sliding scale. Popsicle
Gerard Butler in "300". I wouldn't kick that body out of bed, instead I'd be inviting him.

Horrible comparison.... A skinny woman with no ass or tits just looks pretty bad...period....If you leave out the freakishly juiced up guys, 325 lb guys, no woman I know would consider a big and powerfully built guy to be a turnoff due to "too much muscle"...Never heard that in my entire life.. Id look just as askew of a guy that says he hates DD tits on a woman because they are always bouncing into him, whenever he turns around...Like what a drag..... >02 TFY

Are you kidding me? It's those with a surfers/swimmers physique that look THE BEST in clothes. Nothing sets off a suit, or jeans and a t-shirt like a lean, ripped and toned male body (and I'll add preferably tall to the list). Think James Magnussen... mmmmmmmm. IMO guys with bulky muscles just make most clothes look too tight and uncomfortable. Their proportions are just a little too off kilter to be generally aesthetically pleasing to me. I think it's like the waist to hip ratio for women - if you stray too far from the ideal proportions it's not that you'll be ostensibly unattractive... just that your general appeal will be less. I'm not sure where you've been that you haven't noticed that generally speaking, the guys with the surfers/swimmers physiques turn the most heads; fully clothed or not. And IME people watching with GFs is that when a guy with bulky muscles goes by the consensus is, he would be hot.... if he wasn't so bulky.

TFY Mate, no need to get in a strop. I've gotten far more girls than my cousin. He is a legit gorilla, and I am a "swimmer type". Never yet seen any "mesmomorph" do what I do. My PM box is open to guys who want to show the contrary - I'll wing you. Fact is that every "mesmomorph" that I've ever known without any exception has had the body of a monster, and the heart of the littlest princess. No exceptions. Women can smell insecurity like dogs can. Edit: I also did boxing, judo, and brazilian jiu-jitsu. Always the meatheads that were quitters and whiners. Big bunch of babys. Weak mindset. Imported
Mesomorph's natural build is not hooge. Swimmers build is not ectomorph nor lanky. Swimmers build 'ideals' is pretty much a natural mesomorph body....that doesn't lift. Heavy. Get huge to the point you stray much from norm....and you'll look stocky and short. You'd have to be 6'2+ where it's next to impossible for that to happen. I know what works for me and that's what I do. I go out of my way to not look stocky.

So many meatheads have serious inner-game issues as standard, that it's almost par for the course. I've seen it in the realm of dating and martial arts, particularly. I find the girl's generalizations to be on the money. Body of monster, heart and soul of a princess.

Mesomorph is just a body type that can stay lean and somewhat muscular easier. Generally, they'll look pretty athletic and probably even like they work out, without having to do much of anything. So long as they're not sedentary and ruined what they are born with via over eating. They are not "monsters". Saying that just demonstrates you have no idea. An ectomorph can get "monsterous" with a lot time, hardcore training, eating to support it all and other things. All three types can get there. Honestly, I think endos are the type that has the most potential to get "monsterous".
Bastile
You read so much into people you probably never said a word to. Projection. That is what you are doing with me right now. I'm talking about friends, family, acquaintances etc. I'm also talking about guys that I've trained with. (If I had a quid for every meathead that walked into the combat centre in "affliction gear" to personally roll with me for just one warmup round, get gassed, get tapped or thrown a bunch of times, then sit out the rest of the session to be never seen again...... I'd have at least 10, maybe 20 quid.) Mesomorph is just a body type that can stay lean and somewhat muscular easier.
