Author Springsummer
I have the perfect solution for the original poster: Buy a motorcycle. Number 1, that's one way I ended up doing things on my own. I had a scooter at 12 and would drive 5 miles to the lake club and go have a sundae by myself. Being by yourself is normal on a motorcycle. Number 2, you can always join a motorcycle club and, voila, suddenly you have all the camping buddies you need. But one word of caution, join a club. For that, you'll need a recommendation of which one to join so you don't end up pulling a biker gang train. So if it were me, I'd ask the local police station or fire station, Who are the nice motorcycle clubs you'd let your daughter join? Motorcycle? Welcome to Canada! it's a land of winter. It's raining outside now. winter is coming soon. anyhow, I do have a motorcycle license, but I don't have a motorcycle yet. see that's the problem. I don't even know anyone who could go buying a bike with me. I am 5'2"...it's a challenge to buy a bike that's suitable for short people. long story how I got my license....I registered for a course, paying over 500 bucks, only to get sent home after 15 minutes or so by a woman instructor. It was my first time trying a bike, I didn't even drop the bike, I just lied it down. I was shocked. The course just started...so I escalated the issue, was put on the next class, and I succeed. so the instructor congratulated profusely when I got my license. I didn't even bother to talk to her. why was that happened? that woman must think a tiny woman like me can't handle a motorcycle. It was bias. Actually I can bike without using my handle, so why can't I do motorcycle? anyhow, I really need to buy a motorcycle next year to practice, because we have a graduating licensing system here. If I don't get a full licence within 5 years of getting my first licence, I will have to start all over again. crazy system. see, I don't like being a woman too. People don't take a tiny woman seriously. sign....

I was most comfortable on the longer rather than short fat ones. The lighter the better. Yes, Canada, not the best place for it, I get that. Okay, so setting that aside for the moment, have you looked for camping meetups on the meetup website? There's all types of stuff, camping, kayaking, river rafting. You have to hunt these things down and at least try them. P.S. I had to get a motorcycle escort license and I failed it the first time too. I got hired without it. My job application to get hired was to follow the boss (in the late 1970s) on one of his hogs over to where they were filming Dallas and back and if I could keep up, I was hired. Then I got the escort license after 2 tries. I didn't turn my head left and right obviously enough to suit the guy. Edited September 4, 2017 by preraph
Chilli
I am an immigrant. I don't have alot of local friends. Now, that's not really a good excuse. I know some people who know a lot more people even being a much newer immigrant. but, still it could be an excuse. I used to make a few friends, then at the end, they either went back to their countries or moved to other provinces. People I met at work, most are married, they can't wait to go back home, no time for me. or very young people, like I mentioned in another thread, not friend either:( This has been a pattern with friends my whole life with me. One of us always moves. So whenever l did make good friends , on the other hand , l'd also just take it with a grain of salt because l knew someone would move before long and one or the other always has. l've lived all over myself so it was often me if not them . But funny , where l've just moved to now, it's a very long term type of population here, most have been here for years and have their families or lives here, lt's kinda weird for what l'm normally use to. But l only like friends on a very casual basis anyway , not someone that likes people in my face 24 7.
Larryville
At my age my number one issue is just basic support. After my significant health issue, my health is seemingly getting worse. Doing simple stuff around the apt cleaning, taking out trash, shopping, laundry it is significantly harder for me, with me going back to work there is no rest or recovery time. Having a supportive someone would be huge for me but I would never (I have decided) to burden anybody with me. Before my health issue I had become perfectly fine with being single, and I started to enjoy it. If I lived near family or had my close friends near me it would be different but my situation is the @$$ end of single life. The “having someone to go places with” ect does not make much difference particularly when you get older.
