Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I'm 18, I weigh 88lbs and I hate it! I swear I can't gain weight for nothing. I hate being this thin and my metabolism being as fast as it is just makes matters worse. Anyone got any suggestions?

If you want to gain weight you and be healthy try protein shakes. That's what my husband uses to gain muscle mass and weight. Good luck, oh but you might want to exercise, like running, Pilate and lift some small weights to stay healthy. Just some heath tips for you. :D

Just do whatever is a NO-NO for the rest of us! :D

-Eat lots of carbs and fats, preferably late at night right before you go to sleep.

-Jump on junk food whenever possible.

-Eat in McDonalds and KFC every day.

-Ice cream and cakes should be your priority food! ;)

-Drink coke and sprite instead of water.

-Eat like a pig then take a nap!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao::bunny:

First make sure there's nothing wrong with you physically by seeing a doctor. Then, if you're fine, check out the calorie guides and eat food with higher calories. Not exclusively, but in addition to good foods. I think milkshakes would definitely help you and they're not too bad - at least they have all the good things that milk does in them.

Along with a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables, eat lots and lots of healthy proteins and oils, such as peanut butter, protein shakes, Ensure drinks, olive oil on salads and meats, avocados. These are healthy, calorie-dense foods. I'd also recommend that you start counting calories, for the opposite reasons that most of us do. You may want to make sure that you eat as many as 3,000 calories a day or more in order to gain weight. That may take some work, so you want to track your eating to make sure you're hitting the mark.

I wouldn't go out and eat a bunch of Big Macs and large fries, because then you're jeapordizing your health! I agree that exercise and strength training would also help you build muscle mass, which would help you appear less thin.

If you can, you might also want to consult with a registered dietician, who can also help you draw up a healthy, weight-gaining plan. Just like people who want to lose weight need a good plan to follow, I would think the same would apply to your situation.

Good luck!

That sounds like a good idea. I'll talk to a dietician so I can get a good food plan with lots of calories. Thanks for all the advice everyone! :)
