Its Out! Its Out!

Last night I finally got the piece of wood out of my foot! Two weeks to the day that it went in. The incision that stupid Nurse Practitioner made finally began healing and I've been soaking my foot every day and finally last night I was able to use nail clippers to cut the skin around it away and the corner of the clippers to snag the wood and pull and I had only pulled a tiny bit and it came sliding out on its own. It was like slow motion, I'm holding my foot with one hand and pressing apart the opening (not squeezing) and it just kept sliding out!

The piece of wood was 1/16" around and ONE HALF INCH LONG! People kept telling me it was a little sliver because that's all anyone saw and I kept saying it was like walking on a spike. DUH! A half inch piece of wood in the soft part of the bottom of the foot IS a spike! But its OUT!

that toothpick reminds me of what a former co-worker of mine went through years ago: Apparently she fell on a cactus plant, the kind with the really long spines, and several of them stuck into the skin of her back. She managed to get most of them out ... except for one, that looked like it lodged in sideways, she said, and it was about an inch long. No matter what they tried, the dang thing just wouldn't come out, and she didn't want to go to the doctor's to remove it, so she lived several years with it under her skin. She said about 4-5 years later, it just worked itself out!

I'm glad you managed to pry that puppy out of your foot, now just take care for a couple of weeks that it heals well so that you don't have problems.
