What TV show best describes/described your marriage?

Another post referred to Everybody Loves Raymond as the typical marriage, also That 70's Show was mentioned and another one that drove me nuts....Mad About You.

If my ex was anything like Raymond, my marriage wouldn't have lasted a year. Raymond reminds me of my HS-BF. What a big baby!

I think in my ex-marriage I was lot like Kitty from 70's show but my exH is nothing like Red. Maybe if Kitty had married Drew Carey.....

The only marriage that I've had ( 5 years ) looked nothing like any of the tv shows..

I lived my own Reality TV show

She was Bipolar and Abusive..

But if I had to guess.. ELR is the most like the average marriage.

Blue Collar TV -- I married an Alabama redneck, so everyday is an adventure. Not sure what DH would say, though, as I'm Hispanic and I can't really think of anything representational on TV!

My marriage was nothing like any sitcom.

The thing about Television marriages and Movie marriages are that a drama is typically created, and everything is resolved in 30 minutes on television or an hour and a half in the movies where everyone lives happily ever after...

Real life is much more complicated than that and relationships are more complex.

BUT if Television and Movie Marriages/Relationships were really like life, nobody would want to watch them...

God help us all if that's the case. I think Mad About You had the better model - they were equals; sometimes one of them was the goof and other times the other was. But both supported and respected each other. Too bad the TV 'role models' of marriage are so poor. Oh wait - oldies on TV - Hart to Hart! The old married detective shows weren't bad like McMillan and Wife. Heck, even Bewitched which is 3 AM fare these days LOL. In all those cases, both spouses were the problem-solvers sometimes and the people who needed help with problems other times.

Well, let's see... my ex wife screwed around during the engagement and frequently during the marriage. One of our kids was probably the bio result of somebody else. She's now living with a rich sugar daddy twice her age, in the house he bought her.

Choose any soap opera... that'll fit the bill.

I would say "King of Queens" because we're both kind of stupid little furry creatures now and then, but we love each other to pieces.

I think "Roseanne" is the most true-to-life sictom. The characters struggled with real life situations; most of the cast was normal looking, and they actually wore the same clothes in many different episodes. Not to mention they used the entire kitchen table.

A combo of funny outtakes of Friends, Will and Grace (humour wise, not the gay lifestyle lol!), Everybody loves Raymond, Married with Children, and I'll even throw in That's 70's Show...

Our place is like grand central station at times. No s***!! Between neighbours, friends, friend's kids, neighbours kids (all ages), family, people are just around alot. It's fun most of the time!

I can't say what show best describes us. I think we're the crazy - yet - normal couple.

There are elements of a lot of sitcoms/TV shows in my marriage - but none of those shows are real and accuratly descriptive of a whole marriage! People get themselves into trouble comparing their relationship with a fantasy and that's all TV shows are---even the so-called 'reality' shows---they are all just fantasy.

My marriage has elements from some of these shows -- but that maybe is like 1% or less of the whole of my marriage:

Addams Family

I Love Lucy

Rosanne

Family Matters

All in the Family

Rodney

I don't know of any show were the wife had an affair and expected her husband to be over it after 1 1/2 months. Oh and also expects her H to be okay with her being friends with ex-OM. I can't think of one d@mn show like that.
