Author Mz. Pixie
My honey changed his schedule at his second job so that he can pick the kids up twice during the weeks I have them. This helps out alot because he can pick them up at three instead of five, like I have to. Sometimes it was taking me two hours to get home because of the traffic. Last week was the first week we did it and let me tell you it was BLISS!

alphamale
How long does it take you to get back and forth to work everyday??? well lets see MZ PIXIE...in the morning it takes me about 8 minutes if I hit the red lights and maybe 6 minutes if I hit greens. same coming home. I moved about 4 months ago to be close to the office and live 2 miles away
basscatcher
I live 17 miles from my place of employment. It use to take me 30 minutes one way. But this summer sux's. It's taking me an hour or little more then that to get to work. "I wont move closer to my job because my 16 yr old son has begged me to not uproot him again and make him go to another new school. So I am staying put. As for finding a job closer--well if the damn Temp Agencies would shut down I could find a FT Perm job closer to where I live.." (I'm looking.) I hate commuting...13mpg sux's and i think my car is leaving little treasures along the roadside every now and then.
Lil Honey
My sweetie took the train the other day. Took him FOUR HOURS to get to work! ! ! !
Author Mz. Pixie
Oh my, that's worse than mine!
Lil Honey
That was an unusual day, though. The train tie-ups doubled his commute. He had to work later to make up for the lateness, so he was up at about 4:45 am and didn't get home until 9:00 pm.
slubberdegullion
I stagger downstairs, have some coffee and turn on the computer. Average commute: less than a minute. The downside is that there's always more work, and when it's time to shut the damn thing off & relax, there's this little invisible fella that sits on my shoulder and tells me to keep working. Persistent little bugger.
FataMorgana
there's this little invisible fella that sits on my shoulder and tells me to keep working. Persistent little bugger. the good and the bad of working from home. I live 22 km from work and it can take me anywhere from 30 min to 1h15min in the mornings (depends at what time I decide to leave home) and generally 45 min to get back home. The joy of having to cross the Harbour bridge every day.... nice view of the Opera house and harbour and all, but man...is the traffic worth it?!?!? I'm lucky I have a pretty flexile job so I generally come in late and leave late to miss the traffic. Not much I can do about it either cause I like where I live and I also like my job too much to change, so working from home 2 days a week is always a good option.
