I've used many ploys in my dating life, but I always thought the open robe bit was for losers. Have any of your dates tried this with you? Have you ever tried it on your date?

I think if you've got the money, it won't matter if your robe is open or closed. Nor how impressive your naked body is...or isn't.

Since the old "open wallet" ploy isn't working ("Gold Pile," "fur coats"), I don't think the old "open robe" is going to wow them either. I'm just being honest, because if you were even remotely attractive in conjunction with that gold pile and all those fur coats, you wouldn't have the time to post here you'd be so busy beating the women off you.

Was my post not clear that I despise the robe bit? No Hef here. In fact I picture him using the old open robe ploy....yuk. What does Americares serve you for breakfast?

You misread my post, I despise the robe ploy. I'm a serial dater, I have more dates in a year than most have in their life. I don't exactly have to beat them off, but I do have to schedule carefully. I'm more than remotely attractive (ask my mirror).

How about, the old open fur coat? You had any experience of that, of late?

:lmao: I did have a date with an attractive Russian woman Saturday. I didn't spring the coat on her because it seems over the top for a 1st date. She did however have a fur hat. I'm 99% certain she liked me, so I'll be seeing her again.

Personally I think it's a pervy move, male or female.

But in what context would an average Joe even be in a robe with someone he wasn't already in a fairly close relationship with?

It's just the same as the 'willy out' ploy.

It's never a pleasant sight to stroll back from the bar/toilet to find the guy you just met sitting there with his willy in his lap.

 

I can confirm it still happens though........and doesn't work.

This thread reminds of a couple of stories...

 

A friend of mine's H is a pilot. When he first started working with his current airline, he was told that on overnighters, if a hostie came to his hotel room wearing his/her uniform overcoat it was a signal that they were naked underneath and ready for fun. He went from initially being terrified of being put in such an awkward position as being propositioned by a colleague, to now being a bit miffed that it's never actually happened to him. We've concluded that it's probably an urban myth.

 

The other is a PUA clip I watched on YouTube. This guy said that a 'sure fire' way to get a date into bed was to organise to rendezvous at his to then head out for dinner. Then be 'running late', open the door shirtless, with pants on, barefooted with wet hair... straight out of the shower style. Then apologize profusely, pour her a glass of wine (and leave the bottle with her) so she can relax while he finishes getting ready. Apparently for him this has resulted in many staying in vs going out dates. Bit more classy than the open robe manouver, but also more sneaky. And I'm pretty sure the results would vary dependant upon the condition of the exposed torso!

i think robes on guys are a turn off for me anyway ...personally.....they remind me of pimps and pornos....open or closed...almost to repulsion......actually nah all the way there.....deb

That does sound a lot more appealing. It's a hint that sex is an option (and check out how sexy I look) without being gross or pushy and making the date feel super uncomfortable in the way that "BEHOLD MY JUNK" might.
