outdated
Yes, it's a part of the healing process. I still dream of my ex even though I am in a great relationship with a girl that blows my ex out of the water in every way. I think it has something to do with the filtering process. Your dreams are a way for you to sort out the confusion of everyday life. When a relationship dies there is the realization that you may never see that person ever again, and your brain has a hard time understanding that notion. Someone who was such a big part of your life gone forever is a hard pill to swallow, and therefore your dreams hold onto that a little bit, even if you don't desire to be back with this person. I have strange dreams about my ex. There's never any connection for us in the dreams. We never speak, and generally don't acknowledge each other, even though there's no bad blood between us. I think it's completely normal to dream of your ex, and I don't think it's obsessive since really you have no control over it. I guess it boils down to how the dreams make you feel in your waking life.
Author kinder
In the dreams that I have my ex and are either back together in some way. I dream of past things that we did with each other and so on. It is like I dream about parts of our relationship which were good times. I dream we got married and had kids but never did that part actually happen. I don't enjoiy the dreams especially when I wake up and remember them.
Jeannie
I had a dream about my ex just a few nights ago. We were in a restaurant and he went to the bathroom. I was looking for him (he'd been gone a while) and I see this girl come walking out of the bathroom with my ex right behind her with a stupid grin on his face. Great dream because it reinforced how repulsive he was..... (he always oogled other women in my presence and laughed about it). To see him in this dream with that same stupid cheesy grin on his face reminded me how glad I am we're no longer together! He was slimey - untrustworthy and pretty much a cad. Devildog
Some theorize that everyone in your dream is an aspect of yourself. For instance, if you dream about someone who you think is greedy, that person is representing your greed. Perhaps if you can determine what your ex represents, the dream will make more sense. Author kinder
The dreams represent good and happy times between the two of us. In fact the best times of my life so far. We see each other around town and we don't even wave or anything. It was a terrible break up and I don't understand the reason for the dreams. He screwed me over in the worst ways and I dislike him for it. Oh well, I just don't get it. The dreams bring back memories I don't want to remember
