Where to start?

Recommended Posts

So I'm finally in a position where I can actively start socializing this spring.

Thing is where do i start.

Preferably, I would like someone who is nerdy, quirky and a bit of a tomboy, and a slight pervy side.

So places like libraries, comic book stores barcades and whatnot are all on the table, are there any other places I'm missing?

Happy Lemming

I met a woman at a computer parts show and sale. It was like a "flea market" of new and used computer parts.

I was into fixing and building my own computers, she was also. We bonded over mother-boards, RAM and CPU's. I picked her brain and she picked mine (over coffee at the show). We exchanged phone numbers and dated.

Is this too "nerdy" for you??

Libraries are still on the table. I know this because I was a massive tomboy and spent a lot of time reading as well, and actually worked in the school library. So don't rule that out. People aren't one-dimensional.

Tomboys may or may not like sports. I didn't like sports, but I did ride horses and motorcycles and drive boats and just enjoy mobility in general. Why not go tubing somewhere or river rafting. At least the person will be outdoorsy.

I just stay inside my house now days--I hope you really like nerdy people, I talk about maggots from my forensics class with people I know, research and watch a lot of entomology stuff for class and my own self-interest, and only mix it up with my geology talk...or Jesus, in between smoking ciggs and a million other things I have to do in a day. Maybe try to be more specific about what kind of nerdy woman you would like to look for...maybe align those interests to your own...I can't seem to keep a guy because of mine, and honestly, it hurts for a little while, but ehhh...still have my ideas and my desire to learn...I just accept that nobody else is going to be as complicatedly simple as I am...I like rocks and forensics...can you dig it?! :D

At my age, I am off the market...but, some colleges have open Earth Week to the public, college libraries and campus' have open departmental house meet and greets, some home improvement stores showcase how-to classes, there is gardening, nature watching trips, planetariums, museums, galleries, NASA, IMAX showings of earth videos/sci-fi flicks and such, etc...and of course, as mentioned, the good old out doors. A lot of industries also have yearly/monthly/weekly conventions--look up science or technology or GIS or computer conventions in your area...you can obtain memberships at many organizations and schmooze to your hearts content...

I found such a woman on OKcupid. It was a fantastic relationship. I really loved her. She is one of the few I would take back. I broke up with her because the distance ended up being too much. You would find her on ars technica, at jam band festivals (sweaty hippy tent sex!), quirky bars playing cards against humanity, running her kayak somewhere, helping with habitat for humanity construction projects, picking up trash on the beach, at the gun range, etc. Not so much the library because she ordered her books online and just ran in to make returns and pick ups.
