MeadowFlower
If a guy asks you to hang out, not necessarily in those words, generally speaking does he have an interest in you other than a buddy? Or can it be he just wants to hang out like he would a guy aka as friends?
MsJayne
You don't give any context so it's impossible to answer properly. But usually guys only want to hang out with girls they're attracted to, unless they're gay or you've been friends for a long time.

LuckyM
Most likely he is attracted to you. you don't give details about the situation so it is hard to say
somanymistakes
Anyone else? :-) No one can give you a definitive answer on what a guy that we don't know meant by saying unknown words in an unknown situation. If you are single and he is single and he asks you to hang out alone, there is a good chance he is at least sizing you up and deciding whether he wants to make a further move. preraph
These days, I'd say if it's someone you met online or don't know very well, he is probably seeing if you'll just "hang out" and have sex with him without him having to ask you on a real date and trot you out in public. If it's someone you've been friends with for a long time, it's probably just hanging out as a friend. If it's someone who's never asked you out before even though you've known them awhile, it's probably just a friendly invitation.
Happy Lemming
Maybe he is low on money and can't take you out on a "formal date". His "hang out" invitation might be a way to talk, eat some snacks, have a few beers and get to know you.
Jj66
It could mean he likes you but is young and too cowardly to ask you on a proper date. It could mean something else. Who knows?
