Delivery person... wanting something...?

Recommended Posts

Not sure where this thread belongs... but...

So on Friday I ordered food and had it delivered to my place. And I’m pretty sure (extremely sure) the delivery guy wanted me to invite him in for something more... (it’s like a bad porno or something, lol)

If I had said yes, do you think he would have expected me to pay him? I’m kind of curious. Because I’ve posted in a different thread here (in the other woman sub forum) and people said I must be giving out signals.... to the effect that I am not a high-quality person....(because otherwise married men wouldn’t hit on me) so I’m wondering if maybe this is the same kind of thing. Like I look desperate and would pay some delivery dude to have sex with me or something. Or is this a normal thing that happens? I’ve never had it happen to me before.

Thoughts?

I don't know. That sounds pretty creepy to me. I mean, the guy knows where you live and everything. Eek.

There are a ton of married men who hit on all sorts of women. It's the shotgun theory -- shoot at enough things, you're bound to hit something.

Wouldn't the delivery guy have to get back to work? :lmao:

It was creepy. And maybe he works fast, I don’t know, lol. He even came to the back door which was bizarre. I live in a townhouse, so we are all connected in a row, and have gates to our front doors. But they aren’t locked or anything. But my place is in the middle of the building, and he went all the way around and knocked on my back door. It was very strange. Usually if delivery people see the gate and assume it is locked they just call and say “I’m here.”

(Edit) And thank you for letting me know about the married man thing. I thought that as well, but judging by previous responses to a thread I posted earlier... I started doubting myself.

I've known some real dogs in my life, yet I'm quite sure none of them would consider what you are talking about...Maybe if you answered the door topless? But even then most guys would think its some kind of setup, they would get robbed, or it's just a gag...

I think your mind is playing tricks on you..

TFY

As a general rule, I'd keep that back gate locked. It's just a good practice, overall, but with 'Do-Me Delivery Guy' running around, it's an even better idea.

The back door??? Oh my! This guy sounds super weird and I might find a way to anonymously complain about him.

To answer your question about payment, I doubt he would have required payment. He may have been willing to pay, though.

More than just a little creepy.

Hopefully he's just a horndog using a scattergun strategy and not just fixated on you but, better safe than sorry.

Keep your gate and doors locked. Perhaps draw your shades. If you have neighbours that you can confide in then do so.

Do not hesitate to use 911 should he appear unannounced.

Well of course, I would pay for the food, lol.

I did consider calling the delivery service and complaining, but I was afraid that he might suspect that I was the one complaining, and he knows where I live. Makes me uncomfortable. I don’t want to deal with that.

And I always keep my doors locked.

But yeah, it was creepy.

And to the person who said they thought my mind was playing tricks on me... he introduced himself and held out his hand, so I put my hand out to shake his (kind of a reflex I think because I’m a people pleaser) and as he was holding my hand he literally asked if he could come inside and do anything else for me. And when I said no, he asked me if I was sure. And it was nighttime.

It was probably the scattergun approach. Bizarre.

You haven't met this guy I know :lmao:

I wouldn't put this past him. I do think that the OP is probably reading into things.... But, if he was a delivery driver, I could totally see him putting on the moves.

He has slept with his Uber driver, half of the staff at the bar he works at, countless Tinder girls, hell, I watched him make out with an unattractive older lady for a cigarette....

This is seriously weird and crosses the line. A couple months ago I had a delivery man insist on bringing in a very heavy box I had on the porch, and I was grateful, but it was still a bit odd. However, I didn't feel like he was hitting on me in any way. He was just a nice man with perhaps a boundary issue. (And, for anyone who orders from Chewy, it was a Chewy box with a huge bag of dog food and a couple boxes of cat litter....it was so heavy!).

A delivery person should NOT be holding out his hand in greeting and asking you if he can do anything else for you!! I would seriously report him, very vaguely, in several days. You're probably not the only one, so he won't figure out it was you.

Yeah, you’re probably right. Maybe I’ll wait a week, because maybe it’s just a little part time job for him, so that gives it more time for him to interact with more single women... so it’s harder for him to narrow down who it was who complained. I mean...it can’t be just me. I’m not that irresistible, lol! But I wasn’t scared...just a little weirded out? Maybe he would have been even more forward if he hadn’t see that I have a large dog. The going around to the back door was extremely weird. I don’t get why he did that at all. I’ve been here for several years and nobody has done that before. Or even how he knew that he could get back there.

So you want to let this guy do that to others? He needs to learn that this kind of thing is unacceptable. There is a risk he might escalate his behaviour if he isn't stopped. Please report him.

LOL, that made me laugh :). Yeah, I think going to the back door is VERY strange and definitely reportable, but I also would maybe leave that out if you call because it's pretty "telling" unless he routinely does that.....and he probably doesn't..... I do still think the manager needs to know about him, though.

ETA: I'd actually tell the manager that you're leaving out identifying details because you don't want the guy to find out who you are.

Good point about the back door and identifying details. Thank you!

I had this delivery person at my old workplace that would stalk me a bit and somehow found me on social media using only my first name (don't have my last name listed, nor did I have my workplace listed).

But this dude sounds like an extra level of creepy. Glad you didn't let him in. Agree not to give too many details about the night so that he doesn't know it was you.

To answer your original question, if you had let him in, I have a feeling the bill would have been comped. I certainly wouldn't have expected to pay after that...

He could be some young idiot who's watched too many porno films and has no idea about reality, but even so, it is still over the top creepy. I wouldn't order anything else from that place. If you should see him creeping around, call the police, not the food place.

You need to ask a female friend or aunt or someone what you're doing to send out easy signals. Not wearing enough clothes? Talking crass? Talking to strangers about personal stuff or saying you're alone or you're lonely? Go ask someone. I'm sure everyone has noticed IF it is you.
