quatrofaucet
There's this girl at work that I like and I know she likes me as well. Her friends have told me that she likes and I can also tell by how she acts around me. In our employee parking lot every morning, she'll arrive a half hour before me and park in the same row that I park in, just a spot or two down from my usual spot. But today when I got to work, she parked her car in a completely different row, one behind the row where I park. When I got to work, I started freaking out. I took this as a sign that she's moved on from me. She's parking her car in a different row away from mine because she doesn't want our cars to be by each other. She knows what car I drive and where I prefer to park, and now she's parking a row behind mine so I don't park near her, nor her near me. I went in to work sure that she had moved on, be it she got tired with me or she found another guy, or whatever other reason. But she still showed some signs that she likes me like she's done in the past. She'd still stare at me and look away quickly when I look back at her and she'd also still act all giggly and laughy around me. I accidentally bumped into a pallet of water and she laughed with me. I was talking with another coworker, I cracked a joke, and she burst out laughing a few feet away even though she wasn't in the initial conversation. Her overall behavior hadn't seemed to change and that's what's so confusing to me. Around work with me, she seems to still like me, but she parked her car in a different spot, away from mine. Does this count as a mixed signal? Surely her parking in a different from means she's over me, right? Or am I overreacting? Does the car parking not constitute as a big deal? What's with her parking her car away from mine but still showing signs that she still likes me?
Happy Lemming
Sometimes a parking space is just a parking space... I think you are reading way too much into where people park their cars. To be truthful, if you like your job, then don't date co-workers. In today's work environment, even the slightest infraction can get you into hot water with H.R. Do your job, collect your paycheck and don't date people you work with!! Never fish off the company pier!! Just my two cents...
CautiouslyOptimistic
I guess you could always request to see the surveillance tapes from the parking lot so you can see if your row was full when she arrived to work so she had to park in another row......

CautiouslyOptimistic
What does that mean? https://blog.fitbit.com/walking-10000-steps-a-day/ Some people choose parking spots a distance away from the entrance to get more exercise.

Happy Lemming
And what if I hate my job and the company has no restrictions on employees dating? Well, if you hate your job, then go for it. If she feels you created a hostile work environment, then H.R. will get involved and it won't end well (as far as a reference from this employer). Ask her out, stop obsessing about parking spaces, maybe ask her to lunch (off-site). My sister met her husband at work and they've been happily married over 25 years and still going strong. My sister's husband did leave the company when they got engaged, but he found a MUCH better job. Blue skies...
preraph
Wow, you are overthinking this. Maybe someone was parked in that space but then left. Even if not, maybe she decided it was weird to be parking the same every day.
JDJ
And what if I hate my job and the company has no restrictions on employees dating? Then you are still screwing up your career when you get a bad reference after things go wrong. Still not a smart move.
Author quatrofaucet
Then you are still screwing up your career when you get a bad reference after things go wrong. Still not a smart move. This is just a dead end retail job, calm down. There's no career pathway out of this ****ty job. And I'm already getting a bad reference from them either way. I have no plans on giving two weeks notice once I find a new job and I'm definitely going to be saying some not-so-kind words to one of my managers when all is said and done. I don't care about my career right now.
