mortensorchid
Yesterday while driving on a weekend road trip, I got a text. How many of us have gotten these or sent them, right? It was from someone who said "Hi (my name) it's Dave, I thought I would say hello and hope you are doing well". I decided not to respond via text, but I would be more direct and call him. Which I did once I had reached my final destination. He said we had met on some dating website at the beginning of the year. I asked if we had ever met face to face because the one and only person I met in OLD this year was in January and his name was not Dave, plus I didn't recognize this guy's voice once I heard it and realized it was probably a texting relationship only as I was texting someone else. I just didn't remember his name because one day (if this is the same person) they sent me texts from another number because he was in TN visiting his mom, he had X amount of dollars in credit card debts, he was stuck in TN until he finished making enough money to get back and he just got a new phone. Eventually we tapered off. But I decided to be more direct in this case to call him. He asked what I was doing. I said I was in Illinois visiting an old friend of mine. He asked "Oh, old boyfriend?" I said "I would rather not say, thank you." He sounded surprised, but my goal was to say something like that to dissuade him from contacting me again, because this was rather foolish to do something like this, truly. Happy Lemming
I'm not a fan of ghosting someone, but in this case; I think that would be the best course of action. The little warning bell in my head is going off. Just my two cents...
Author mortensorchid
Wow that is rather odd.... and you dont know him at all? I agree. No, I don't know him at all. All I can tell you is that I never met a person named Dave this year. It MAY have been this one guy I had met on a dating website, but we never talked on the phone or met face to face. Plus I really am not interested in someone who is reaching out again after so many months. But he knew my name so I assumed that was how we met and why he was reaching out again. But I was going to nip this in the bud and put an end to it immediately - ain't gonna happen. Besides, I was not about to tell him that I WAS in fact traveling to meet someone from my past and what we were/weren't doing that weekend. Because that wasn't his business anyway.
