Did I miss the opportunity to meet a great man?

Recommended Posts

Good evening.

It is the first time I am posting on a forum. I am 25 and I haven’t been dating for a very long time due to bad previous break up. And now it seems that I am unable to date anymore because I am « protecting » myself.

Until last week a young very good looking guy stopped me in the street while I was on my way home. I thought he was probably looking for the tube station. And actually he just wanted to chat.

I felt a bit uncomfortable as it was unexpected and totally out of my comfort zone. He asked me if I lived in the area, I said I was actually a tourist. Then the conversation lasted a few minutes more and I realized that I actually got on with this person. But because of my « blockage » I lied about being a tourist and having a boyfriend back home. I felt really silly while saying that because he was very nice and when he left I felt like I probably missed an opportunity to meet a good person. I didn’t get the chance to ask his name, he only pointed me the house he was leaving in, and that’s all I know about him.

We live about 2 minutes walking from each other, I pass by his street nearly every day but it was actually the first time we bumped into each other. I’d like to be able to find him but it seems that the only way would be to knock at his door and tell him. But that would look really creepy.

Has anyone have any advice, or feel like they did blew their chance with someone some day?

He stopped you first, I doubt he'd be creeped out if you knocked,

Especially because you're a woman, and men don't always get taught,

Show up at his place and ask him out on a date,

You could have just snubbed your destiny and fate!

If you feel like you really want to try to date this man, then go knock on his door.

I'd take a "peace offering" of a home made pie or a loaf of banana bread. He'll quickly forget about the "white lie" of being a tourist, etc.

It is clear he finds you attractive, so I say "Go for it"!!

If you live in the same neighborhood, odds are you will see him again. Confess about not being a tourist but you can tell him you broke up with the fake BF. Get to know him & see what happens. Chance meetings on the street can be a bit scary.
