krista28
So a few months ago I bought this eyeshadow. Well it was part of a cosmetics subscription that I had more like. So anyways I used this color a couple months on and off but now more regularly. I noticed my eyes were getting really pink when I took off the color I chalked it up to aging?? But I’m only in my early 30s. So I experimented and did an eye treatment and a bunch of skin flaked off my eyes.... and they went BRIGHT red when I was walking around the grocery store yesterday. I threw away the shadow and any other shadow that wasn’t very new or hypo allergenic. It seems the swelling is coming down and the colouring is coming down slowly... has this happened to anyone else before?
No_Go
Sounds like you’re having an allergic reaction to ingredient/s in the shadow. If you don’t mind sharing the brand, I can look it up. I personally don’t throw away powdered make up for years and it keeps working fine. Creams/liquids however go bad pretty quickly - 3 months max is what’s recommended for liners and mascaras, so same rule may apply for cream/liquid shadows... If it’s not allergy could be a bad batch - inform the company and you may get reimbursed.
Author krista28
I thought the same thing powders usually keep however this scared me right off. I am now throwing things out on expiry date and not using eyeshadows with metals. The product is Doucce cosmetics eyeshadow single or solo.

E.g. if you used setting spray to intensify them? I guess then it will make more sense to grow bacteria. Otherwise maybe they were infected if used by you /others with eye infection in the past? Not familiar with this brand but they claim to be hypoallergenic... still who knows maybe you’re sensitive to an ingredient. You could test on skin on your arm to check... Noproblem
I suggest you buy from famous brands when it comes to makeup because bad make up make our skin horrible and ages us faster. So, invest into better makeup from famous brands in sephora or ulta.
carhill
Wow, that sounds awful. Hope your skin recovers. If it persists, especially around the eyes, perhaps a medical professional would be a good next step. As an admirer of women and having been married to someone in the image industry I'll echo the preference for professional products and I, personally, prefer a lady with minimal makeup, something my exW also preferred. Skin conditioning, sure. The skin is our largest organ and worthy of our best care. Good luck!

Haven’t personally tried it, but from info+prices is comparable to Sephora’s brands.
Author krista28
No go is right it’s a good brand just not as well known. I threw out the compact as it didn’t sit well with me. I am now using brands I’m familiar with... they have caused no issues. No more redness.
preraph
Yes, sounds like an allergy. If it was in your actual eye, it would indicate an infection which is common with cosmetics. Stop using it and make note of the ingredients just in case (if you can read them). If it's a subscription, ask for your money back. Don't take exchange unless there are NO common ingredients in what you exchange for.
