This is one sad trait of dysfunctional families that kids feel responsibility for things that are way over their heads. I don’t know how it works in Canada but is it possible to get her mom’s mental health examined and have her treated? From what you’ve told it looks like she is not capable to take care of her child (and possibly herself?) even without the criminal boyfriend. Is it possible to change her school closer to you? Or maybe have some individual schedule to study remotely in some part, submit homework online and come to school in only few days a week? Maybe something can be worked out with the school. The man is rotten to the core. I hope that his criminal record is enough that no judge is going to send the kid back to live with them no matter what. Also, you are a superhero! Child protection just left my home, they had to make a routine inspection. We spoke close to 1h30. She told me they are building a strong case that Claire does not return to her mom and they will suggest the judge to order the mom examine by a phychologist. She also told me they had the BF file looked at by a profiler and they concluded the BF is going to hit his next victim soon. We got Claire out of there just on time. He rapes every 3 years so his next victim is going to be on 2018. She said the police is watching his every move. Author Gaeta Posted September 11, 2018 Author Share Posted September 11, 2018 Turns out the mother is still doing 0 progress. We've learn that Claire has not seen a doctor since she was 5 years old. She also has a double scoliosis in her back that started 2 years ago and was never seen by a doctor, result she has a shorter leg, a crocked hip, and cannot fully extend one of her arm. When her mom realized she had a scoliosis she made her lay on the floor 1 hour a day as 'treatment'. This was added to Claire's case as medical neglect. I am of course having her see a specialist. In 1 week we're in court, child protection first intention was to leave her with me another 3 months but after learning of the medical neglect and supported by Claire not wanting to return home, she will be staying with me till June 2019. . Author Gaeta Posted October 21, 2019 Author Share Posted October 21, 2019 I thought I would update this in the proper thread. Here we are 1 year later. We spent the day in court today. The mother showed up at court and deposited a letter that she was abandonning her daughter and did not want to be contacted by Child Protection under any circumstances - and left. We were called in front of the judge later, it lasted 10 minutes. I was granted all parental rights till she's 18. The judge was very nice with Claire. She told her it was a big day today, being abandonned by a mother is a traumatic event but as much as possible to always look forward in life and to grab with both hands all the life oportunities her new family was giving her.
