ConFusedMoiselle
Hi, Just need different opinions on what this phrase means: “Let it burn” typed in All Caps as a shoutout. What could it mean? Need answers.
TurntSloth1
What's the context, did someone send this to you? My initial guess is this breakup song but I really can't say
Author ConFusedMoiselle
My ex put it up as his whatsapp status with a profile picture of him with flames. Why though?

daphne
If it was not long after your breakup, I’d speculate that he was suggesting he didn’t care about the demise of your relationship. If not that, then he’s apathetic about something else that didn’t work out. Or pretending to be. You don’t usually say it if you are already.

BaileyB
You got your answer in the infidelity forum. Your husband is not happy that his affair is ending. He's either throwing a tantrum or sending her a message... Either way, it's not the post of a man who is happily recommitting to his marriage...

So maybe he is saying he is suggesting he wants to burn it for good??
Author ConFusedMoiselle
Hi can anyone dissect this for me please. "Burning slow because I let it go; the unselfish darkness devours me within; for a promise 'not to come back', my pain paints pictures."
preraph
Sounds like someone made a decision to break up with someone but is in pain over it, but they sound resolute, happy they were unselfish, and are channeling their pain into art, both poetry and apparently painting, which is healthy enough. It's always good to make something beautiful out of something sad and depressing. But keep in mind, a poet does not always nor even usually write literally about their most current subject. Often, poetry comes from within, from the soul. When younger, I wrote consciously. As I got older, I wrote pretty much in a trance and didn't remember it until I went back to look later at my journal, at which time I would edit it into something better. So sometimes, the imagery of the poet comes from the totality of their experiences with different people. Certainly songwriters rarely write a song that lines up perfectly with reality of one relationship but is part fiction, part symbolism, and maybe has items from more than one relationship in there. These things are all one big melting pot in the poet/songwriter's brain and soul. So instead of trying to find out if it's about you, just know it's about him and his cumulative experiences in all likelihood. It does start off mainly about his unselfishness, his sacrifice, doing the right thing, and that's about him.

BaileyB
Does anyone else have any insight into this please? Nobody here can read your husband's mind... If you want to know what he meant by his post, perhaps you should ask him. I don't mean to be unkind, but how is it possible that you can reconcile your marriage if you are not able to communicate and trust your husband... This kind of worry and insecurity would really bother me...
