Brooklyn13
My shift was over at work and as I was leaving, I spotted my close friend who came into the restaurant alone. Outside of work, I usually see him a lot and we chat together often. I had gone up to him to say hello and we embraced each other. In the middle of the hug he pulled me in tighter and his head was over my shoulder and near my neck. Soon after, he let out this deep sigh.
smackie9
It's normal....hugs release endorphins, hence the sigh.
basil67
Because a hug is relaxing and comforting. I don't think it's a specific male thing either.

Highndry
I never realized I sighed when I hugged women. I better take note on my next hug.
Gretchen12
I don't think men do that as a rule. This was just one guy. And if some men do it, it must be for the same reason that some women do it.
carhill
Welcome to LS.... What do other men do when they hug you? You them? Is this the first time you've heard him sigh when hugging you? Are you dating? I ask because you posted in our Dating forum.
Author Brooklyn13
Welcome to LS.... What do other men do when they hug you? You them? Is this the first time you've heard him sigh when hugging you? Are you dating? I ask because you posted in our Dating forum. When other guys hug me, they don't sigh and I don't either. That was the first time that I've heard him do that. And no, we're not together.
Art_Critic
Maybe he smelled you while hugging you and you heard him enjoying it..in a good way.. or it was the blood leaving his head and moving lower...
Mumbles
I do this I've been asked about it by women who've experienced me doing it too Its just a form of pleasure moan really. When you enter the personal space of someone you could be sexual with (ie, you find them sexually of interest), endorphins are released. If the guy is pulling you close when this sigh is released its a sure sign, particularly so if he pulls your hips towards him.
thefooloftheyear
Its a flashback to his childhood when his parents forced him to hug and kiss all his aunts and female cousins at the family get together...and sighed because he got it over with.. TFY
Mumbles
Oh, I forgot to mention yesterday, I think I saw something on TV about this years ago (its a real thing, you're not imagining it!). Just prior to the sigh there was almost certainly a big indraw of air, through the nose - and this indraw would have happened when the guy was in intimate proximity of you, your neck probably given your description of events - its surmised that this brings in a rush of -your- phermones and gives the guy a 'hit'. If your own pheromones are saying the right things to his receptors - well ... Put simply, its a deep animal response ... he's smelling you and finding it good :)
major_merrick
Hmm...the cuteness overwhelms them? My husband does this when I hug him tight, but then so do my GFs. Did you squeeze him so hard you forced the air out?
