If a woman dates a man who is 16 years older than her, is he a sugar daddy?

My friend who is 38 was in a 8 year relationship with this man who is 16 years older than she is. I was surprised by this, she is around my age-I'm 36. She told me that she met him online, match.com when she was 30 and he was 46. At 30, I would think 46 is a bit too old for me. Even now-that I'm 36 I could never date a man who is 55! I mean, at 55 he is considered to be a senior citizen. But that's just me. I just can't help to think that shes on some sugar daddy website-she told me that she was talking to his man out of the country, they met online/facetime, talked on the phone before meeting up and he paid for her trip to see him in Florida. She showed me a picture and he looked like he was in his 50's. I don't know what online dating app shes using, but it doesn't look like its on tinder, because most guys that I talk to on there wouldn't even consider paying for my flight

16 years isn't that much at her age. I know you wouldn't want that, but this doesn't make her a gold digger.

Anyway, if she's a good friend and they've been together for 8 years, you'd know better than us if she just wants him for his money. Does she love him? Do they make a good couple?

My friend is dating a man who is 15 years older... She has more money than he does, so what would you think about that?

Seriously, you know them. They have been together for eight years. Are they a good couple?

That sounds well within the bounds of normal to me. In the last four years I’ve dated men as young as 22 and as old as 65. Not a damn one of ‘em paid me. lol

Agree with others.

People are all different to and all age differently and like different things.

Relationships are hugely about likes and views and talk and click , anything can happen and numbers are just numbers, it's damn hard to find so when you do , enjoy.

The sugar daddy bit , she's your friend why don;t you talk to her .

Dunno much about sugar daddy's or mummy's but don't they pay for everything and shout apartments and basically support the other one?

Does he do any of that ? One flights nothing.

lf not then, he's just a bf.

ExH is dating someone 16 years younger than he is - she's 25, he's 41. Knowing exH like I do, I very much doubt she is a gold digger.

They seem to have a very fiery RL, screaming at each other in front of my kids, but it seems more to do with their personalities than with the age difference.

If your friends are well suited, the age is no big deal.

Eight years is a long time. Sounds like the relationship works.

Not a sugar daddy regardless of age if he's not paying all her bills and giving her an apartment. Most sugar daddies are married guys with a side of sugar baby, IMO.

An age-gap doesn't necessarily mean a sugar daddy situation. Even if he's paying for a lot of things, I don't really think that would qualify, especially if she's genuinely into him beyond just what he can provide for her.

As a guy, I couldn't envision wanting to date someone that much older, but it seems like a different thing for women, even if the guy isn't loaded.
