How to tell gf her cooking isn't good?

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend LOVES to cook a lot, but unfortunately her food isn’t that appetizing. I’ve been putting up with her cooking since she moved in. I don’t have the heart to break it to her that her dishes don’t really taste good. It’s not really super bad that it’s inedible already, but it’s just tastes bland or too salty most times. How do I tell her politely that her cooking isn’t good? I want to stop pretending when I eat already. There was this one time she used a foreign kind of spice that I didn’t quite figure out and my stomach hurt so much. I need advice from y’all.

I hate to break it to you, but there really isn’t a way to break it to her without hurting her, which sucks, I know.

Instead of saying, “I don’t like your cooking.” Maybe go the route in saying you like your dishes heavily marinated, salted, etc. maybe even cook with her, and then be like “I’m going to put this much seasoning because I wanna taste the flavor “ or whatever bs sounds right to you.

Good luck

Remember that what you call bad food isn't necessarily what others call bad food. I once had someone living with me who complained of my cooking "It's like eating at a restaurant every night". He wanted basic meat and three veg. He would likely have been very happy with your g/fs cooking

Yep, you're going to have to start cooking some or cooking with her. You may just not like the same things! I have a friend who always wants to go to a restuarant that has "clean" food, which I call grains that were never meant to be eaten on top of greens that were never meant to be eaten.
