Barby
Okay sorry but I really need to know. I have broke out once today on my arm in hives this morning then awhile later it went away on it's own. Now that I've gotten out of the shower I've broken out on my chin, lower face, and neck. I'm NOT using anything new. NO new soap, no new laundry soap, no new perfume, no new anything. I don't know why this is happening. I'm not eating any new food, no new meds, nothing has changed....could hives be stress related?!?!?!
jhurtinct
I get them and it could be something in the air or maybe a cleaner of some sort. my doc told me because I got them on my face as well, if you smell something(cleaner) it's in your nose its on your sink. try benydral of hydro cortizone cream. good luck they stink:)
laRubiaBonita
in the spring, especially when it rains, i break out into itchy hives, usually on my neck and torso...... i can only assume it has to do with pollen or some other airborne allergin....Smog maybe. but for some odd reason it is worse when it rain? maybe it is acid rain mixed with allergins that get me? i dunno. Hydro cortizone helps, benadryl works, but makes me drowsy...... i will usually only have 2-3 little episode a year. Make sure to wash your bedding at least once a week, and use new towels when you shower. Hope th itchiness goes away! Loves you Barby-Girl!

whichwayisup
Oh s***, if splooge did that then I'd be hived up all the time, baby! I worked with a guy who had an allergy to pussjuice. We all knew when he went down on his girlfriend as they next day he'd come into work with red bumps and rashes on his face! (Yes, he did tell us all what he was allergic too!) Craig
Hives can be caused by allergic reactions, heat, cold, pressure, hepatitis B and some bacteria. Stress may or may not be a cause. Usually hives dissapear on their own but they can last for years. You can try treating yourself with an OTC antihistamine like Benadryl (sedating) or Claritin (non-sedating). If the hives last longer than a couple of days or don't respond to an OTC antihistamine see your doctor. The location of your hives starting on your arm then appearing on your chin, lower face and neck may suggest some connection between something that came into contact with your mouth/face/neck from your arm or vice versa. Stress may cause hives or it may make it easier for you to develop hives, I don't know if it's clear which is correct yet but there is a relationship between stress and getting hives. LittleMiss
Stress can cause hives. I have experienced this before. I was young and the doctor put me on medication for my nerves. I would also break out in Hives in the heat. My mom would get them when she was cold. If you have been unusually stressed out lately then that probably might be the cause. Ladyjane14
My understanding of it is that it's an allergic reaction. It could be caused by anything that produces surplus histamines....that does include stress, weirdly enough. Ragweed, mold spores, you name it. Everybody's different, and allergies can strike at any time. Antihistamines usually help, but you shouldn't play around self-diagnosing either. Serious allergies can be life-threatening as we all know. See the doctor.
amerikajin
I don't really have anything new to add to what's been said already. It's an allergic reaction of some sort. One thing that I'd add is that your body's chemistry changes ever so slightly throughout the course of your life, so it's entirely possible that your body could be reacting to something it has tolerated fairly well up to this point. Allergies are an over-stimulation of your immune system - which is a wonderful thing when it works like it's supposed to. However, immune suppression causes you to get sick by being unprotected against pathogens, and an over-stimulation of your immune system leads to your body attacking its own tissues. You should consult a doctor and let him know what symptoms you're experiencing, just to be safe. He probably won't know the answer right away and may want to monitor you for a while and do some follow up testing. If you are only experiencing skin symptoms, you should see a dermatologist. If you're experiencing other symptoms (severe swelling, nausea, dizziness, trouble breathing), you need to see your primary doctor ASAP.
