mezarashii
I don't know if this issue has ever been raised before but I was curious if anyone has a similiar experience. My Vietnamese Girlfriend, I am a Caucasian American, cleans everyday at least twice a day. Her skin is very healthy looking and she has no diseases or any health ailments that would cause has a very strong body scent. I have noticed that other perfectly normal looking people have a similar smell. The problem is it drives me crazy, initally in a really erotic way but now in a paralyzing and brain swelling, I feel dizzy and irritable sort of way. At first I thought it was because the relationship was becoming difficult but I notice the same symptoms when strangers with a similar scent pass me on the street. I get tired and irritable and I want to get away from it. Needless to say I haven't been able to pinpoint anything in her diet or her perfumes since the scent is constant no matter what she eats or which perfume she wears. The only thing I have pointed out which makes sense is her deodorant, but she doesn't even wear that very often, as I said she is incredibly well-groomed. The smell is similar to patchouli with a hint of alcohol. Anyone know what this smell is? Why do some people carry this scent on their bodies? I have noticed it with Western people as well. I'm curious to know if its a kind of pheremone sensation I'm experiencing. Am I biologically repelled from people who have this smell? ANy thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated! bluechocolate
The smell is similar to patchouli with a hint of alcohol. Are you hanging out with too many hippies maybe? I've heard that to a lot of asians western round eyes like us smell like sour milk. Are you only catching this scent over there? I'd put it down to something in the diet & a sensitivie nose. Whatever the smell is coming from, it would drive me crazy too. I hate the smell of patchouli oil !
Author mezarashii
no hippies, i swear... sour milk? naah, that smell doesn't bother me so much. its more prevalent in korea where i am now than in vietnam.
Outcast
Go see an allergist and find out if you have allergies to some chemicals. It's very unusual to find someone's scent bothers you in a 'paralyzing and brain-swelling way', particularly if she's not wearing a particular scent. It could actually be something wrong with your brain or olfactory system rather than with people so you really need to get this checked out.
emotionsmessmeup
for the vaginal scent there are many over the counter products...and for the other stuff ts a matter of gifting a body spray / perfume.
Author mezarashii
my girlfriend uses a feminine wash religiously. perhaps there are alot of very strong chemicals in it? Point being, her vaginal area isn't the problem =)
Outcast
perhaps there are alot of very strong chemicals in it? It's quite possible. It would be much less wierd to be allergic to a chemical scent than to a human. And she should probably not be using chemical washes - they can upset the balance of her tissues in that very delicate spot.
crazy_grl
Yeah, there's probably something she's using that smells that way and the chemicals in it are causing your problems. Very doubtful that her natural body odor would cause those reactions. You said it wasn't her perfumes, because it's there no matter what perfume she wears, so maybe it's her soap/body wash, or shampoo. If she's a clean person, she'd use those every day. Some people have strong reactions to almost any perfumes/colognes and in what I've read, there's nothing that can be done about it. I personally get horrible headaches, dizziness, and my nose and eyes feel like they're burning with certain ones (pretty much what you described) Patchouli is a major one that does it. And the more I'm around a scent, the stronger and worse it seems to get. A girl who used to work for me in college wore patchouli, and it didn't bother me too much at first. I thought it smelled kinda nice actually. But after awhile, I didn't want her anywhere within 500 ft of me!
Nash
My boyfriend's natural odor has that same patchouli smell too. He is caucasion and wears lots of deodarant. He is quite hairy too but showers daily. The smell is so weird. I kind of like it but I'm not used to being with someone with a distinctive scent. He says his ex noticed the patchouli smell too. His deodarant is Mennen or Right Gaurd, nothing that smells like a "hippy" scent. It really is strange........He has asthma and allergies. He can't eat tree nuts. Hmmm...maybe the smell is a natural repellant of some sort? I would prefer if he washed is clothes more often. The smell usually lingers in his shirts or jackets.
