Psychology or Philosophy?

I choose philosophy. Others choose psychology.

What do you choose among your peers?

What would Aristotle say to frued?

Psychology.

It explains the motivation of actions of people. It gives you the key to what to expect, how to understand what's being said and done by people around you.

Psychology is real , well as real as they can get so far , they can only figure out what they can only figure out buttt, that's what we have to work with.

 

Philosophy is basically just made up sayings and statements by pretty well anyone and one persons view and idea.

l could make one up right now and have plenty of times, doesn't mean it's so or the wisest thing.

l often think, just for the hell of it equally wise opposites in philosophy , they both make just as much sense yet oppose and contradict each other.

Well, both subjects require an advanced degree to get a decent job in the field.

 

I thought about that choice long ago and chose philosophy because it is more questioning and open ended and has no definite answers everyone agrees on. and psychology was created from philosophy at the start, partly by William James--

 

The fact is there are far more jobs in psychology and more respect from the public in general. Most people know little or nothing about philosophy, usually zero, take my word for it. You will need a Ph.D. for better jobs teaching college. It has no other use really.

 

Bear in mind psychology tries to be scientific and never questions its field the way philosophy does. Impossible to say what Aristotle would say to Freud. I am not sure that Freud read Aristotle, or cared to.

Without psychology, it seems like it would be a shot in the dark to have a good philosophy that was grounded.
