Entertaining Scenarios In My Mind

Recommended Posts

Ok some think it is unhealthy to entertain various scenarios of life situations and their argument is that it is not worth talking about such as what happens if a woman wants to have sex with me and I'm not ready?

I think it is fine to talk about scenarios because I can take notes on what to do if something happens. Gray situations are going to come up and I want to prepare ahead of time.

If it is unhealthy to talk about scenarios then we might as well not even talk about what to do in case of a fire in a building or in the event of a tornado ripping through our homes.

I don't anticipate a fire or a tornado happening to my house but it is good to talk about it ahead of time because it is a possibility. So it is also healthy to talk about detailed dating scenarios as preparation. I don't like curveballs being thrown at me.

This reminds me of people who don't want to talk about death and put off preparing advanced directives because death seems a long way off. 1 out of 1 dies whether we like to think about it or not and there are no guarantees any of us will live out normal lifespans.

Having a plan is fine. Obsessively talking about worst case scenarios is a problem.

Not if it is not a far fetched scenario. Anyway I know what works best for me. Not everyone has to operate the same way. As long as I don't hurt other people then it is my business how I think.

True.

Depends on how far fetched. Having a will & advanced directive is good. Fretting that you will be struck by lightening is not that good; but knowing enough to get in out of the rain & not go swimming in a thunder storm is fine.

Like most things there is a healthy balance to everything.

Perhaps but isn't it better to risk erroring on the side of thinking about it too much than thinking about it too little?

Sometimes I will avoid social events because of the risk of some situation that may come up that throws me for a curve and does not have a textbook procedure solution.

No. In social situations, you are better off facing your fears.

It's OK to have an exit strategy but to not even try deprives you of valuable opportunities.
